Hey everyone! My iPhone 7Plus is in pretty good condition. No cracks or chips, it’s lived in a case and had a screen protector on since I got it!

That said with age the battery is not at optimal condition. It’s at 77%. But to be honest, I haven’t noticed it’s diminished life.

The thing that has me infuriated is it’s 32 GB of storage. I cannot update the phone, and I am at the point where I do not have space to download any additional apps nor send video or photos due to no space to download the video or photos prior sending.

That said, I am looking into a newer IPhone and am wondering which of the newer models I should invest in. I know some models, the year to the following year jump is more significant than others.

I don’t use my phone a whole ton - not on social media. I do listen to music often, and take a good amount of photos.

As far as other apple products I owe, I do have AirTags, AirPods, and a 2015 MacBook lol that is still going.

I don’t need the newest model, but if the 12 for example is loads better then the 11 for example, I’d love to know that too!

I know anything newer will feel worlds away as is lol. So, I would love to hear if there is ways to save money also.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve noticed this happening and I found it weird. I definitely noticed this some of the apps but now when I’ve come across this thread I’m only seeing this on kik app. I was checking this online but couldn’t really find anything regarding this. I thought this was due to an update.

Simple answer is that on your iPhone your Wifi OR Bluetooth NEED to be on (doesn’t have to be both) and on the other device the Wifi or Bluetooth also needs to be on (again, not both). Put another way: your iPhone is being used as a communication device (either via Wifi or BT), so it needs to be ‘On’… likewise, the device you want to be able to connect TO the iPhone needs to be ON in order to connect (via Wifi or BT). Apple is probably a little more stringent on security that Android…

If this happens continuously, delete the downloaded update, then do a full hard restart by holding down the power and volume down button until the phone shuts off and keep holding the power button until you see the apple logo again, this will do a full hard restart. Then if I were you I’d go either on a windows machine with iTunes, or Finder on a Mac, and download and update the phone through that. It’ll probably work a lot better that way and you avoid having an issue with the update installing… if something happens during the install it can corrupt the file and basically brick the motherboard… it’ll get stuck in a boot loop. That happened to my ex’s iPhone 12 and my mothers iPhone 13… they both had to go to the Apple Store where they both had to have their display taken off, their battery taken out, and have them transferred to a whole new body and new motherboard since the original motherboard was corrupted from the failed update installation. No restore works for either. Luckily they were both under warranty still and apple replaced them for free but it was still a hassle and they didn’t get a whole new phone, just a new rear glass and body, and new motherboard. They keep your original display and battery (the wearable components). I highly recommend going through a computer to update if you have the ability to.

You’re correct. I have a MacBook Pro that Apple says has good battery health but it only lasts about an hour off charger and needs plugged in order to turn on. It just popped up yesterday that my battery needs servicing but in the settings it still says that the capacity is good

No worries, thank you, appreciate your message. My apologies if I wasn’t able to properly describe the experience . My cellular data plan is on the iPhone, and I sometimes use it as hotspot for other android devices so that other devices can connect to my data. Whenever I want to do this, I have to -turn ON cellular data -under “personal hotspot” I turn ON “allow others to join” (“maximize compatibility” is also ON) There will be a message prompt that says: “Wifi and Bluetooth are off. Personal hotspot will only be available over USB. Do you also want to enable over WiFi and Bluetooth?” Button 1: Turn on Wifi and Bluetooth Button 2: USB only

I always have to choose button 1 for it to work, but the downside is while I am traveling other strangers nearby can see my device since wifi and Bluetooth have to be turned ON for hotspot. It might also consume additional battery power because wifi is on and the phone displays different networks I pass by. The moment I turn it off, the hotspot connection breaks off too. Also sometimes even if I do it correctly others can’t connect so I have to turn off wifi, Bluetooth and cellular data to redo the process for it to work haha

When I was using Android before, I just had to turn ON cellular data and the button for Hotspot (both in dropdown menu/control center). No need to turn on wifi or Bluetooth for other devices to connect to my android as hotpot

Comparing both, I was just wondering if my Apple IPhone hotspot experience is normal, if it’s really like that? Where Wifi and Bluetooth has to also be ON for my iPhone Hotspot to work
