The main issue is really that with cellular data enabled all sorts of stuff starts using the megs I do have (which are few), e.g. for updates, checking e-mail, checking weather and what not. I've tried disabling background updates for a ton of apps, but I can still see my megs just disappearing rapidly.

Sadly the carrier doesn't support wifi calling either, so I'm probably just plain out of luck :-/

Considering switching to iPhone 13 Pro from OnePlus 9 Pro

Just want to switch phones without paying extra, because:

  1. Not sure if Oxygen will get another update, but I downgraded to Android 11 from 12 (which was a complete disaster), and I don't like 13 either. So basically software support for my device is either over, or it's so bad recently that I don't want to update.
  2. I still have problems with notifications across various apps. I never got to make Gmail actually work despite trying pretty much everything. Also there are occasional problems with Instagram and other apps.
  3. I don't use customisation features much, different launchers etc. My interaction with file system is Just manually putting some files into the phone via USB (audiobooks etc.), and that's it.
  4. I have a Macbook and iPhones/Mac sync and cross-device features are nice.
  5. OP rapidly drops in price, iPhones - not so much. After using 12 Pro Max for some time I may sell it for good price and buy iPhone 15. My main problem with iOS was the repetitive design for years, but I like how 14 Pro looks and can bear a year with 12 before buying the next iPhone.

Anyone had similar experience recently, with 12 Pro Max or 13 Pro? What did you regret and what you didn't?

P.S. I'll probably miss fast charging and shelf, but I can live without it if the rest of the experience is superior.

One time I had an adult video paused in Safari and it auto played the audio as soon as I started the car. It also had the title of the video displayed on the center screen. I knew it would do that from music apps but not Safari. Lesson learned.

Luckily there was no one else in the car with me.

I'm sorry my question didn't include this aspect. I realize I need data, however I don't want a full-blown cellular data connection as I have no data plan (and no access to one really), as such it gets way too experience with updates and whatnot.

I purchased a 14 Pro Max 256GB today and will pick it up from the shop in next few days but in no rush as waiting for the screen protector to arrive in the post. I already bought and received an Element Black Ops X5 case so it's all coming together.

Upgrading from an iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB and looking forward to Dynamic Island.

I recall many were up in arms when Apple dropped Touch ID from the iPhone range to be replaced with Face ID. The majority of apps have now integrated Face ID log in and verification. Still, Apple haven't completely abandoned Touch ID as I'm typing on my Touch ID keyboard and I love the simplicity and integration with macOS.

I'm sure I won't be disappointed with Dynamic Island and fully expect third-party developers to take full advantage of the tech.
