The latest iOS 16.3 update is more or so stable compared to the previous versions. My mom also has an 8 Plus that I've kept on iOS 15 mostly because there might be a hit on the battery life and I wouldn't want my mom to go through that. Expect a slight change for the battery life. In all honesty though, Apple is still pushing out security updates for iOS 15 so if you really want a few features exclusive to iOS 16 like the change in lockscreen, iMessage finally being able to delete messages etc. then sure go for it. I would recommend staying on iOS 15 for the time being though. iOS 16.0>16.3 has overall been a bugfest.

I’d go with the 13 Pro. Battery life is generally better on the larger phones, but the 13 Pro generally will last a full day. Depends on what apps you use and if you’re on mobile data vs Wi-Fi. Generally though, it’s got pretty good battery life.

Out of the smaller Pro models released so far, the 13 Pro has the best battery life. It’s a really solid phone all around. The ProMotion display may sound like a “meh” feature, but it makes using the 13 Pro a really nice experience.

The 14 Plus doesn’t have ProMotion, and it also lacks the telephoto camera. I think the battery life may be better on the 14 Plus, simply due to it having a 60hz display and a considerably bigger battery. I would go for the 13 Pro, honestly, due to the display and extra camera

If it doesn't impact you performance, then no problem with it. Since I always keep my battery charge between 20-90%, I do not really use it often. But definitely gives several hours more if you enable it so that's a good option when travelling.

Search the App Store for “Progressive Alarm Clock.” Icon is that of a sunset. I love this alarm clock app because the sound can be set to ramp up gradually. But when you set it, it will show you how much time til the alarm goes off, like you’re looking for.

Only limitation is that it only makes sounds of Tibetan prayer bowls (bells) of various sizes. But they’re nice peaceful tones.

Not only that, but if you turn off the single tap to wake (cos that triggers every damn time without it being need to), you can not turn off the alarm after the Lock Screen times out before the one minute mark. It’s one of my greatest miseries every damn morning. I press the lock button or the volume which only snoozes the alarm. I’ll have to turn on the screen then and then turn off the alarm. So mindlessly annoying. It works okay when you wear the Apple Watch to bed and can turn off the alarm. But the damn alarm vibrations count as steps that I have apparently taken.

I use an old iPhone SE just for alarms now.
