Isn’t it intentional? You’re not supposed to be handling a phone while driving.

Does it not need iOS 11 and above to run? I know you said it worked on iOS 8 but that was that not an old install? This is a new one and is probably hitting a compatibility issue?

Humidity accumulates faster than you think, could be as simple as pocket sweat. Give it a couple hours and you should be fine, if not, as others suggested, you can try to carefully flush it with isoprophyl alcohol and if even that fails, you have to go get it checked

I got this error and when I did this it worked (somehow). Why are the downvotes tho? It’s worth a try

Yeah, a lot of people don’t seem to realize how much damage a bad cord can do.

I look at the front of the phone, not the back or sides.

That is not the issue. My issue with it being caseless (12 PM) is that it slowly slides out of my hand, and i fell like i get electric shocks from the edges

I do - and in addition I have a few additional ones, in case I need to share but don’t want to reveal (share) all information (as an example; have a number of different e-mail addresses and numbers, and not everyone should know all of them).

I had the same problem aswell. So I left the phone alone for awhile then tried charging again and no longer got that message and was able to charge the phone again.

A but if a catch 22 at this point.
Right now your best option is to pull that phones SIM card and toss it in a android phone and see if you can get the number off it and call that number.
Or you can try to out your sim in it and see if Siri voice dial for call mom/dad/spouse/husband/wife will work but if they sent a erase command giving it internet connection might invoke said erase command.
Alternatively if they enabled lock with a message giving it internet might cause their message if “If lost return to …” to pop up.
Or just take it back to a ATT stir and explain again what happened. This time don’t ask them to look into it simply say you want to help get it back to the owners and are leaving it with them. Set it down and walk out.
Once it’s theirs and your gone a manager MIGHT try to look into it before they toss it.

I’d really like to switch to Apple One / Apple Music, but it’s things like this that keep me on Spotify.

Same issue was the charging cable. It eventually messed up my charging port and could only wireless charge.

Dust you can just use a microfiber to clean off, micro scratches are whatever to me now but use to care a lot. But to me scratch, dents, and dings are all just sign that device is reliable enough to still work even after being damaged. It’s a tool to me.

The paint rubbing off is something very annoying though…their paint has gotten really soft in the new phones

This. I had the same issue recently where my iPhone was not wet or even close to it and in the end, it was due to a defective charging cable.

Yup. I keep waiting for Apple software to get better but I’m always left disappointed. Instead we get useless features like SharePlay.
Hey Apple, let fix broken things like Siri, Weather, and HomeKit first. Then let’s focus on the half baked things like Apple Music and Notifications. Then we can add fun things like karaoke and black history wallpapers

Would that work for the charging port though? I think those are designed to eject water from the speakers

Some people just care less about things other people cant deal with, to some their phone is just a tool they use and they just want it in decent condition and others are emotionally or aesthetically attached in a way that every small blemish on their highly valued phone drives them mad.
I remember a similiar thread here where someone was asking how people without screen protectors are able to avoid and deal with „micro scratches“ and some answers where like „what micro scratches, i dont care?“ and others were like highly concerned too and could relate to the topic.
I dont know if one can easily change the type of person they are when it comes to this.
TL;DR: I just dont care. Some people do, some just dont

Yes, but it asks me if I would like to download the latest compatible version and I clicked yes. That worked on iOS 6 and iOS 8. But when I updated to iOS 9 everything stopped downloading
