Willing to make about the phones blacklisted. If they’ve got insurance, they’re going to require that that phone be blacklisted for the customer to get a new device.

Water detection via software is basically checking if any pins in the port are crossed when they shouldn’t be. Check the port to see if all the pins are straight. If the cable is from apple, just take the phone to apple together with the cable; chances are they’ll either replace the port or just give you an new iphone. They’ll see that it’s not water damaged (if what you say is true) because there are physical markers that change color inside of the iphone on contact with water.

I have not used a case or screen protector on any iPhone since 2008. I have only ever broken one screen in all that time.

I can’t say I’ve ever been bothered by fingerprints. When I get big scratches on the frame from dropping it on concrete, that’s a little annoying, but it’s hardly that big a deal. I have a few scratches on the screen, but less than you’d expect.

Every case is both less nice looking than the phone is and also in many cases can damage the phone when dropped due to how force is redistributed. As a result I’ve never used a case at all, except briefly when I wanted to try fancy leather ones. I stopped after a few weeks.
