Car manufacturers are already bringing them back after all the negative feedback from customers.

The sad thing is you’re still going to have to carry a physical license for quite some time. Even if your state approves digital IDs your bank may still require a physical ID for quite some time. Places like hospitals or places that require a credit check may require physical IDs. If you are buying age restricted products such as alcohol or tobacco, not all locations will immediately have a way to validate a digital ID. Also, if you’re traveling, you may leave from a state that the airport accepts a digital ID but go to a state that doesn’t. Upon traveling back, you may have to show a physical ID.
It’s going to take 10-15 years or more before we can expect to see things start to really take off for digital IDs.

The problem is they made it a lot more expensive, no dynamic island, no new CPU, nothing but expect that we'll love it. We don't.

You get better feedback from real buttons. There's a reason you don't use a touchscreen for your real keyboard on a PC/laptop

No I’ve seen it work haha. Just want to know if there’s a way to tell if someone is using it or not

You’ve completely missed the point of this post. They are asking when more than 3 states are going to have the option for a digital license. Even when it was announced there were like 10 states that they listed as coming soon but it’s been such a slow rollout. Each state needs to implement their state individually.

“We have no choice” was their response to the EU mandating usb c. This does not mean they have to do it this year as it is mandatory in 2024 which means the iphone 15 could still have no usb c. Although I don’t think they will take that route. Knowing apple they might just not give a port at all and go full wireless 😆.

Does it happen when you take video of a scene that has no depth?

I'm wondering if it's the auto focus range finder going wonky due to the small size of the subject in the video.

That would be great actually. I know people love the physical ringer mute button, but thinking about it, I switched mine to off when I got my first iPhone in 2017, and have not once wanted it to be on since. I would be 100% fine with this being a software toggle and having a more useful physical button that can be mapped to other things.

This is dumb, phones processors already have a low power mode for critical functions. A separate chip that only operates those functions is more secure if anything.

There are a lot of suggestions on the net for that. I have tried them all pretty much and none of them last long. The only one worth a damn is make a paste of baking soda and sparkling water. About 2 tablespoons of each. Wash your case really well with dish soap first then with a cheap toothbrush scrub the paste mix on the inside and outside of the case. Put a good layer on it and let it sit 10 minutes. Then rinse it off really well. Dry it completely. It will look better. I gave up on clear cases. None of them stay clear.

This doesn’t make any sense. The chip breaking is much less likely than a physical button breaking (which 90% of people take to apple anyways). It’s the same chance that your actual phone chip stops working.

I actually like it everywhere outside of vehicles. Touchscreens in cars is a safety hazard and not beneficial in any way. Other places reducing moving parts as much as possible is a good thing.

It’ll make cases more expensive as they’ll have to redesign buttons/functionality. Likely we will see nice cases that are very expensive, and the usual cases just feature cutouts. Then there will be some that just forego the whole thing and you’ll have to change volume via software
