FaceID works really well in all circumstances I’ve used it. I’ve heard it struggles in strong sunlight sometimes but I live in the UK so wouldn’t know about that. 😉

Using 2 SIMs is easy to manage, but do you want all your personal data on a work phone?

I’m currently on an iPhone X bought in September 2018 and its performance is very low (slow in everything, the touchscreen glitches sometimes, the camera has a weird overlay) and I wanna upgrade. I’m gonna be using the new phone for 4-5 years at least, so I am open to a more expensive model if I can use it for longer. I can’t decide between the 12 pro max, 13 pro max or 14 pro max (I could go for smaller phones but it’s been a while since I started wanting a bigger phone so I’m gravitating more towards the pro max models). I care about the battery life a lot, camera but not too much, fast performance and storage (256GB and up)

What do you recommend?

imo FaceID is inferior to TouchID. I came from an S22 Ultra and the fingerprint scanner is one if the things i miss the most.

Tho overall I'm pretty dissatisfied, this will probably be my last apple device.

Hey, that's nice. I haven't jailbroken anything in a couple years. Switched to Android for necessary reasons, and I don't mind it. Kinda miss having an iphone, kinda fine without it. I always try to stay up to date though, fixing phones and whatnot. The older blackra1n untethered ones would crash often for me, it was annoying. I still did it though, I was addicted to icon packs lol never had more than a week of uptime myself, probably had bad tweaks or just too many, I could never help myself.

i'm sorry, little android fanboy - whether WhatsApp Photos need to be saved manually, or that's happening automatically, depends on your setting you set in the WhatsApp application.

I know good online resources - both for reading, and also looking at and evaluating technology in an actual valuable way; just reach out to me if you need it ❤️

I have no idea what people are complaining about.

In Photos you can create as many albums as you like. If you don't organize your photos into albums then, yeah scrolling through the library of all the photos will be a PITA. But even then, they'll be organized by year and month.

I can select the photos I want and then I have several options about how to move them somewhere else.

Airdrop to a Mac or other Apple device.

Mail them or send them in a text message.

Move them via WhatsApp.

Or download them to Google Drive.

Someone else mentioned iCloud already. Your photos are automatically uploaded there and you can easily access them through a PC web browser.

I also have iXpand meaning I have a SanDisk thumb drive I can put into my phones lightening port.

Why people are talking about iTunes is a mystery to me. iTunes went away years ago.

You may even have an app for your camera. I have a Nikon app that allows me to upload Gigs worth of photos. I don't use it because there are so many other options.

Other than the iXpand, all this is done via WiFi or Cellular.

You don't say what social media you have to upload the photos to, but I've done it to Craigslist, Zillow, Reddit and others I don't recall, through the Safari browser.

You say you want to share photos from your PC to the phone and then to Instagram, I'm baffled by that sequence. How did you get the photos to the PC to begin with? Why can't you go straight to Instagram from there?

On iOS, only the photos you MANUALLY save are stored in the Whatsapp album. That means you have to click every picture and save it. Time consuming and frustrating.

On Android, every picture you RECEIVE(not manually save, like on iOS) is stored(automatically) in the Whatsapp folder so it is very easy to copy all the photos on the PC, for example.

On your iPhone, go into settings, tap your name at the top, go to family sharing.

Create a child account for your son.

Erase the iPhone that will be your son’s, and then sign into it with his new Apple ID.

In his App Store app, Tap the profile icon in the top right and find the previously purchased apps from your account.

If the apps don’t appear then you may have to tweak the settings in your family sharing.

As others have mentioned, if the apps use some shady in-app purchases then these may not be transferable, but if it’s a ’paid app’ then this shouldn’t be a problem.

So my Samsung S20 stopped working and I'm done with Android. Coming home back to iPhone. What's the best bang for the buck iPhone right now? I'm leaning towards a variant of a 13, but not sure.

  • I work on my phone as QA so it is an investment and a big screen would be nice.
  • Long battery life and decent camera for hiking and backpacking trips.
  • Don't mind buying used.
