If you use the Express Service then they are replacing the whole device and so you’re charged the full replacement fee. You’re getting a new battery, new screen, new back glass, new housing, everything. If you go into the store they will replace just the screen for the lower price. It even states this in the link you provided.

You pay the screen replacement price if they only replace the screen. You’re paying the full 79 because you’re getting a replacement device by using Express replacement.

In that link you shared there’s a section that says “Express Replacement Service: we’ll send you a replacement device so you don’t have to wait for a repair3” so if you go down to footnote number three explains it. It’s also a link to https://support.apple.com/en-gb/iphone/repair/express-replacement that states this info, too.

Absolutely fine with them charging. But according to the URL it should be £25 not £79… that’s how I’m reading it anyways.

If they don’t charge something, half of the user base would purposefully damage their phones to get a different color.

The 15 is coming later this fall, and the next gen SE would be coming in spring 2024 according to leaks. it’s said to have either the iPhone XR or the iPhone 14 design. Whatever one it has it’s definitely a big upgrade & will be a better bang for your buck.

I did but bc they were tethered and without a case it was hard to get an idea what it will feel like in hand.

is 6.1 inches too big for you? if it is, go for an SE 2020 or a 13 mini

if it’s not, go for an iPhone 12/13

12 pro max would last you 3/4 more years of ios updates (most likely this isn’t confirmed yet, we just have to find out for ourselves as time goes on)

14 pro max is nice but the 13 pro max is a better bang for your buck option as it’s cheaper and the 13PM actually has better battery life than the 14PM

I just use the default camera app. I like control as much as the next guy, but on a device where computation does so much of the work, I don’t think it’s all that helpful. I have ProCam, but I don’t really use it, the default camera and photos app is enough to get perfectly good photos.

Parent wants to upgrade from an iPhone SE (yes, original SE). Not a heavy iPhone user, does not want a large screen. What would be a good recommendation?

Your best bet would be an SE 2020 as i’ve seen em go as low as $150. But if not then the XS would be better. i would replace its battery tho if you choose as 73% is horrible
