Yeah I’m pretty diligent with cleaning. Once every few weeks I’ll pop it out of the case and give it a good brush down with an anti static brush. I wouldn’t have asked this question if I felt I was negligent with maintenance and cleaning care. But I do agree they are mobile speakers after all and are exposed to so much more than the typical sound system.

I don’t think apple would use something to cater to 10% of people. They’d use LCDs for cutting costs or to differentiate the phones in their lineup easier. If anything the PWM issue is just a thing that would come with it but I don’t think that’s their priority

That’s not true. I run into the issue all the time. For example if I click a link in the peloton Reddit to a ride it opens up in the browser, and not the Peloton app.

If I click a link to a tweet it opens, at best, to safari which then asks “do I want to open it in my twitter app”. At worst it just opens in safari without giving me an option.

Reddit links work similarly. And there are plenty of other examples. Meanwhile on android you can easily set default apps and to borrow a phrase, it just works.

Going back to the last app I used when I unlock my phone. Split screen apps. I want a folding iPhone. I also want whatever music or podcast I was playing last to not disappear from my home screen

It amazes me. Like, the first item UI element in the settings app is literally a search bar. Hell you don't even have to be in the settings app to easily search for whatever settings you need.

Realistically the pill cannot get smaller. The area around the pill is already enlarged somewhat most of the time.

If the pill was shrunk it would reduce the functionality of it. I expect the pill to be around until they can hide everything under the screen.

My problem with it being so tucked away is that I have to constantly go and turn it off and on again. If you manually adjust the brightness (need to turn the brightness up fully for a moment to see something clearer for example) then it never seems to go back to auto brightness, unless you toggle it off and on again.

If it’s in Accessibility then the main use for changing that setting is if you have some sort of visual impairment where a screen that’s too bright or too dark makes your phone difficult to use

Man I can't imagine thinking any smart phone in this day and age is "boring". Idk, maybe I'm just not what everyone would call an "enthusiast". A smart phone is a smart phone, and I definitely weighed the pros and cons. But idk, maybe I'm just being petty but I just personally wouldn't get rid of a phone because it was "boring".

This won't happen: it would be neat if Apple had BIG camera packs you could swap in & out onto the magsafe portion. It would use wireless pairing for data transfer & power so the performance wouldn't be the best. Just imagining an ecosystem of large, swappable camera units (that go on the back of the iPhone) is fun.
