Also, depending on your carrier you will have to go in store go activate an esim. I work with at&t and I know customer service won't do esim activations over the phone. Not sure if it's the same with other carriers. If it's prepaid I doubt they'd give you trouble over it, they're pretty lenient.

Iphone 13 has an esim too. The 14 is just only esim, but the 13 is both. But it might depend on the region you live in, I live in the US so my information is based from here. If you go into your phone settings and it shows it having an EID number, it's esim compatible (I believe its under general > about but I don't have an iPhone so I can't check atm, I just work with iphones at my job and I've done esim activations on 13s). But, if you have a US model it will have an esim.

If there is an SSL certificate in there then yes it would allow the school IT department to monitor HTTPS traffic. However, as a VPN encrypts your traffic, they wouldn’t be able to monitor it.

As for why, many areas have laws requiring schools to filter internet traffic. Many of these systems have block pages that tell you why the page you tried to access was blocked. However, because of HTTPS, these block pages cause the browser to throw an HTTPS error because the certificate it received was invalid. Adding this cert will allow the block page to show without an error (but thats speculation on my part). I use NextDNS for personal filtering of ad domains and the like and because I have a block page enabled, I need to install their certificate so it shows up without an HTTPS error.

Never really used a phone without tempered glass, but I have noticed differences in feeling between different tempered glasses. Right now I am using Spigen EzFit on 14P and it has definitely the most pleasing feeling so far (this is also the most expensive one I have ever bought though), but it’s worth it. I do recommend it.
