I see this car parked on street sweeping days all the time. About time they finally towed it.

The Port Authority isn’t entirely blameless. They own the entire complex and I’m pretty sure Westfield’s lease for the Oculus doesn’t cover anything within the PATH fare area.

They should at least put a departure board on that huge blank wall on the western end of the turnstile level. Everyone would be able to see before they swipe in.

No you can, I do t think they start looking until 9am or so.

You could probably put both in your window at night and not have to switch them at midnight.

So basically I have to get up at midnight to put the second pass up. I can’t just wake up at 7 or 8 and place the second pass, correct?

It’s not for 24 hrs, it’s for the day you scratch off. So if you scratch at 2am, it’s good for 22 hrs. At 3pm, it’s good for nine hours.

I did have one Lyft/Uber refuse to go to Jersey late at night from NYC. But only once. Much better odds than with taxis.

Definitely not based on usage - some of the most crowded trains are after 10PM

I actually just moved from jc downtown to bushwick Brooklyn. I loved there in JC. The reason I move is simply because I have been transferred to Brooklyn area and my girlfriend commute to east village and its easier here. For 3500 you can get a very decent 1 or 2 bedroom apartment in JC downtown.

Here are my pros and cons for JC

Pros: Lower tax (since you can afford a 3500 apartment it’s going to be a quite large difference on your paycheck) Quieter and cleaner street (especially Newport) Lower crime rates Very pet friendly, especially for dogs. Not for everyone but if you need to do some business at government departments like DMV nj is generally less overwhelmed than NYC.

Cons: You might need a car. The public transportation is limited. Say if you want to go trader joe in Hoboken and then target beside the tunnel it’s a bit painful if you don’t have a car. Parking spot is not so expensive comparing to NYC but if you want to go for street parking it’s a bit tricky. (Don’t think about bet your luck and park illegally. When it comes to giving traffic tickets JC and Hoboken is the fastest in Tri state area)

Limited choice on restaurants and nightlife. JC has a fair amount of decent spots but it’s still no comparison with Brooklyn. Plus the path train does not run so much at night, if you want to go for a night out in NYC you will have to either take a 60 bucks Uber or wait 40 mins at path station when you are half drunk.

I would say if you prefer a simple and quieter lifestyle JC is definitely better option. It’s even better when you have a car but if you don’t you just need to pay extra attention on grocery options at your new apartment.

A 22-story high-rise is about to top out across Johnson Ave from the lot, directly next to the highway! They expect people to want to look out their windows and make eye contact with commuters.

as someone who is contemplating moving to JC from florida... is the late night issue just a NYC thing? We have no transit options here so the path train seems amazing for our use purposes. I'm no stranger to using a transit app to book when I need to leave

A couple late nights I've gotten away with knocking on the windows of cars with tlc plates and offering them 40-50 bucks cash for a ride to jersey. A lot of the drivers live in jersey and have the NY tlc plates and will be fishing for a fare that takes them across the river.

Wow yoh need better friends, mine visit all the time.

This is the way - the Duane Reade is open 24 hours because I regularly get snacks after I'm hammered at 2 am waiting for the train
