Debatable, also most vehicle strikes on pedestrians here don’t result in death.

Easy solution. Make a separate entrance and dedicate two elevators to the observatory.

They don’t really enforce the zones, especially downtown. They enforce street cleaning mainly.

Probably don’t want to disturb the office tenants with the tourist traffic.

As I’m generally a pedestrian, I’m shocked nobody has been killed. I’ve nearly been hit four times in recent memory by drivers running stop signs in residential areas, including within 500 feet of buildings where there are schools in the ground floor of most of the buildings. Usually it’s a halfhearted stop and the driver proceeds without looking for pedestrians. I’m making extra effort to not proceed until making eye contact, but what about those who are as tall as a car bumper?
I can’t understand why we have groups of cops standing around shooting the breeze instead of enforcing traffic laws, especially in school zones.

This is a tip for anyone looking for an apartment. If you see a building you like, check their website daily. The prices can fluctuate wildly day by day. I was looking to move to a larger unit in my building, and just watching the availability and pricing, when enough 2 bedroom units came available, they dropped the prices on all of them. As 2 of them got snatched the day I got my apartment, the next day the remaining apartment increased by about 1200.

For what it’s worth, street parking in nyc is free and a parking spot in jersey city is already included in my rent. Also we live in LUXURY city, so i assume most have enough money for those things. Otherwise yes, you are stuck dealing with the woes of public transportation.

That is true. My thought I guess was more like a promenade, or some type of centralized outdoor space for people to gather. IMO that whole area should be a destination, a place to get food, go out to bars, live, work, shop, etc… Just more of a focus on mixed use, and not just residential would be cool.

Grand st is impossible to drive down in the morning. And then the dumbasses go down the turning lane and cut everyone off at the jersey Ave intersection. It’s a shit show.

I mean the traffic sucks on Jersey, Monmouth & Marin and they have done fuckall to remove cars or driving lanes on those streets, but what has happened is a bunch more people decided to drive after the pandemic and they opened up a nice new express exit to downtown with the Jersey Ave extension.
