Whenever I go there, I try to appreciate the fact that it’s now almost pure white, when, not too far in the future, it will probably be dark, dusty gray.

TJ's donuts are definitely legit. Their apple cider donuts in the fall are amazing and I wish they were year-round.

Yes they are imported Italian marble that requires a crew constantly on duty to maintain even over night because they aren't made for high traffic .
The develops were set on imported Italian marble just so they can say " imported Italian marble" . It was against many of the builders and designers recommendations . One of the papers even did a write up on it years ago about how one of the leads was indirectly tied to the supplier as well and how the flooring cost 20x what it should have cost.
They even compared the high traffic coated marble and almost no one could visually tell the difference so the higher end stuff was just pure arrogance and indulgence
They need to be cleaned and waxed 10x more often the high tariff marble would of needed to be that would not of faded .

I mean, Port Authority owns the whole property, Westfield just manages the Oculus, I doubt they have veto rights over signage. This is an extra-dumb interdepartmental squabble.

At least as of a couple years ago, the top floor was occupied by the building’s owner (Goldman Sachs). Presumably they are happy to keep the view for themselves.
Also, a public observation deck would require a couple of dedicated elevators to keep the public and the office tenants separated. Since you can’t easily add new elevator shafts to an occupied office building, the only other option is to take away elevators from the existing occupants. That would be a pretty big deal because companies in a building like that don’t want their employees to waste time waiting for elevators.
And they would probably need to build a separate lobby for the observatory for security reasons.
It’s not impossible to do, but I imagine the costs would quickly add up.

Next step: countdown clocks with actual times for the horribly slow weekend service.

Mini bronze Liberty statuettes of course! Most things uniquely Jersey are experiences that cannot be exported.

I happen to be in Clifton area, so went to that Costco to pickup the battery.
They recommended ETD in Lyndhurst, that was pretty close to it. I will recommend that place.
$110 for battery and $30 ish for the replacement. Just make sure Costco sells your battery type. You can do that online.

As a fellow cake donut lover...not Jersey City unfortunately.
#1 Judicke's in Bayonne
Trader Joe's are seasonal flavored but when offered they're usually well above average

One thing to remember is that there is a huge number of shitty outcomes between “not being hit by a car” and “getting killed by a car.”

Moved to JC from UK. If you need space then it depends what lifestyle do you want? House with garden? Hamilton Park might have options.
Want an apartment instead? Try downtown if its in your budget, near Grove Street, or along the Light Rail near the Riverside to the south.

I go to the Just Jersey store in Montclair and get the NJ shaped pasta. You can also order online from them.
Salt water taffy is also a good choice. I find that a lot of people appreciate local sweets.

It’s not so much bad design as it is corporate interests. The whole project was real estate and construction grifters profiting off 9/11. The design choices were just tools to maximize profit.

I’d check out nearby farmers markets or buy some locally roasted coffee.

If you like the beach, somewhere down the end of the Monmouth line. Mountains end of Morristown, Bergen or Pascack lines. Northeast goes to Princeton. Expensive suburbs like Summit, Short Hills, Milburn. Nice suburbs out from there. Bergen County has classic upper/middle America. Essex more like city fringe. This is a big city that covers a lot of space.
Its worth saying the trains a slow and infrequent compared to UK so JC is actually pretty good. :)
