Reply to NJCU is laying off 30 professors, eliminating 37% of academic programs by mooseLimbsCatLicks
Looks like Hudson county schools are going to be hard up for elementary school teachers and as well science teachers.

as am alumni I can tell you NCJU was not one of the final options sent out for a vote
Hamilton University was one of the options (who could have foreseen that being a great choice!) as was City University of NJ (CUNJ... sounds like a dirty word in another language)

Reply to Moving to Jersey City from UK by BerryFit3491
If you're willing to commute from the suburbs towns mentioned before like Montclair, Maplewood, South Orange are really nice (especially if you have children) but you will find a bigger bargain and quicker commute from towns like Rutherford, Lyndhurst, North Arlington and Nutley. These are less ritzy but all are safe, quiet, have a train station or very close to one and dog friendly. You will also still have access to backyards but expect them to be smaller as towns closer to the city have smaller property boundaries. I commute from this area and it only takes me about 30 minutes to get to my office in downtown Jersey City. The things is though if you don't move to JC, Hoboken or Bayonne you will need to purchase an automobile. Its an additional cost but it opens up all of NJ, NY state and beyond for exploration.

I was out of town so I'm just hoping power didn't go out while I was gone and the pipes froze.
I should have gotten warning if it went under 50 from my thermostat but well see... hopefully we kept power in the heights

My water heater though definitely shows signs of previous leaks and is due for a replacement due to age. That being said, it still heats up water like a champ (although there's only 4 people in the building so it doesn't need to work that hard)

No leaks so far! However I don't have a basement, so my boiler is on my first floor. My 3rd & 4th floors are small 1 bedrooms so they luckily don't use too much heat.

NJCU is not financially or organisationally associated with Jersey City.

Assuming your boiler is in the basement like mine, with four stories you need to have the pressure up at 25 psi to make it up to the top.
Have you sprung any leaks?

Wow that's a lot of space to lose, especially assuming they studded out the brick wall with at least 2*4 for insulation.

Rositas Yah has veg burritos, tacos etc. Vibez juice cafe is all vegan. The smoothies and the food is good. I’ve had the beef patties and vegan ribs.

Lol it’s because the original person said “That (GRO) is Grove Street” and /u/titaniccar misunderstood and said “This (picture) is not Grove Street”
OP is at 9th St and is asking what GRO is, and that is Grove Street.
Why would 9th Street be called GRO lol

I have three heat pumps, one per floor, and had no trouble keeping the house over 70 even on the coldest days. They run on 20A circuits. My electric bill has been shockingly low. But we also haven't had a really cold day in years. My December bill (reading on 12/12) was $157. That's my highest bill. If I remember I'll post the next one
