LOL. As if no one with “well paying jobs” who wants to experience city life lives in Journal Square. Have you considered that some people who want city life also want to embrace living in and giving back to a diverse community? Do you hear yourself?

They’re doing this in neighborhoods with high theft rates. You’ll need to either be home or pass that info to the concierge in a doorman building. Started a little while back. Amazons not even the first to do this.

This is going to become more common. Customers are becoming price sensitive thanks to the economy so they can’t just incorporate the cost of all the theft into the sale price. Something has to give.

Or order elsewhere. But I think most delivery services will be rolling out similar features in the very near future.

Lol, yes that's true, and I sometimes have to tell tenants to get their conditioners out. But no the the ACs are out. The really stealth heat leak is when people don't actually shut their windows all the way. They close it so that there's no opening at the bottom but very often the sashes are not meeting in the middle and air is blowing through. You have to be sure the two sashes are meeting properly and use the window locks which pull them together. Every fall I have to go around the house checking each and every window to make sure it's actually closed.

You can easily get an apartment in JC for $3k, but not a luxury building with waterfront views.

Is a luxury high rise non-negotiable? Many people prefer the neighborhood historic districts - the two have very different vibes and you need to know your preference first. Also keep in mind that if you have a vehicle, a high rise will charge an additional fee for parking.

Also, Newport is a love it or hate it place - I would not group it with the other neighborhoods you mentioned. It is very disconnected from most of Jersey City and feels like a tall suburbia with city views. On the other hand, people who are city-averse feel better there and if you have an eastern view, that's a plus.

If you are diligent you can absolutely get a downtown apartment for well below that. I had a 1.5 bedroom for $1400 and a moved to a 3 bedroom for 3k. Don't believe people when they insist otherwise.
