Wonder what the cost would be of burying i-78 under 13th st, disconnecting the tunnel from downtown (maybe an on-ramp at Monmouth?).

Get a lot of commuter traffic off of local streets, and takes stop lights off of i-78.

Would that be a $10bn project?

What would the land value be in the area between 10th and 18th st? That whole area has been starved by the tunnel entrance and is a bunch of gas stations and car-centric retail. How much wealth could be unlocked by converting that into a dense neighborhood if the commuters are all buried away?

Lol. But seriously so many people do. Ive been in JC since the 80s and never went to Times Square for NYE…Im sure its magical but the lack of restrooms and standing on your feet for 8+ hours is insane. I’ve met numerous folks who have literally taken meds and forgone liquids just to see the ball drop. Its insane.

wait, what's your question lol? if you get on at Communipaw and want to go Port Authority? Well I think it's like 4 Zones Interstate so you just show that to the bus driver. One time, my dad wanted to get off at Willow + 19th St since he showed a 2 zone intrastate pass, but the bus was so crowded he couldn't get off so he went all the way to Port Authority and the driver didn't notice.

not gonna lie, my butt hurts from sitting for that long since the 119 is making constant stops picking up people at every stop lol. I don't do it that often.

As long as we are doing dumb questions: I live close to JFK south of JSQ and sometimes take the 10 or 119 to JSQ to catch the Path. But I have never tried to take the 119 all the way to Port Authority. What happens at JSQ if you are on the 119 from, say Communipaw? Do you just stay in your seat? Do you have to get off? Also how many zones is it from south of Communipaw to Port Authority?

I like how they pose the question as if fixing traffic has anything to do with this. They could fix traffic tomorrow, make one lane a dedicated bus lane and they move many multiple the number of people into NYC and get rid of a huge amount of traffic. They don't want to fix traffic, they want to generate traffic because the TPK gets paid by the car.
