i got a card just for the digital stuff (i can’t take out books that don’t automatically return, i have a book hoarding problem) and it’s been great. but the most unexpected thing was checking out pressreader and finding out they have Fortean Times. it’s my favorite magazine but it’s big and british and like 12$ a pop. based on that alone i’m gonna donate!

i am also not a plant but did want to be a librarian for a long time.

10 Billion would be enough to fund the following NJT Projects

  • Northern Branch LRT
  • Newark-Paterson LRT
  • Passaic-Bergen-Hudson LRT
  • West Orange Extension LRT
  • Newark-Elizabeth-Cranford LRT
  • West Trenton Line
  • MOM Rail Network (Central Jersey)
  • PA Rail Access Expansion to Scranton & Lehigh Valley (Split with PA/Fed funding)
  • Glassboro LRT
  • Bus Rapid Transit ways along South Orange Ave, Central Ave in Newark, JFK Boulevard in Hudson County, Route 4 in Passaic-Bergen

If he were real serious about being green and expanding the infrastructure in the state he would have aggressive funded that list which with matching federal funding should have largely been built by now with the exception of a few long shelved projects. All the shelved road and highway projects under Christie have been funded and most of them will be done by next year. Around 7 billion in total...so why hasn't NJT received the same treatment.

Thanks so much! Hiring you as a plant going forward.

You may have already checked it out but the library also offers some job placement assistance and counseling here: https://www.jclibrary.org/resources/employment-assistance/

Not sure about your industry but they will also be posting their own ads for jobs opening for various positions at the library periodically: https://www.jclibrary.org/about/employment-opportunities/

Will make a post in the new year with details about the fundraiser.

Thanks for mentioning that! There will be 3D Printing available at the new Communipaw branch at 295 Johnston which should open next year. It will also have a maker space and recording studio!

Aside from that, they're also trying to have 3D printers available at some branches sooner. Let me get an update and I'll share it with you.

I also wanted to mention another way to donate would be to set your smile.amazon.com charity to the JCFPL!

If you shop with Amazon but haven't used Smile yet, simply shop Amazon as you normally would but use the address smile.amazon.com and Amazon gives a small percentage of your total purchase to a charity of your choice!

10 billion would be much better spent building lots of multistory (ideally affordable) housing there and removing the need for folks to be driving into town in the first place.

This is the kind of proactive instead of retroactive thinking we need to do.

All the photos in the article just highlight this for me, instead of highways there we could have HOUSING. 10 billion in housing would be a big deal for this city, rather than a slightly wider highway to make it easier for people who dont live here and often aren't stopping here.

Looks like this is the stuff. https://photoblocker.com/ They claim it's not even illegal! So where does this lead? Facial recognition cams instead of plate cams? Then laws against wearing masks in your car? I remember a story from pre-covid where guy drove the cops in AZ nuts by driving with a mask on.
