They're going through some legal issues with their building's landlord according to their FB page. It seems to have something to do with shoddy work done by a contractor to their store. That was last May... unfortunately doesn't seem like they'll be reopening any time soon if at all.

Pros- Easy Walking distance to Aldi, biking to Target/GE on 117th, walking distance to Madison food options, Clifton, and parks

LHS Community gym access upstairs for <$30/mo, pool

Can hear the band practice in the summer with windows open if you're listening for it

Parking situation seems better in birdtown than other areas of Lakewood

Chill neighborhood, safe

Cons- Occasionally congested around the school by pickup/dropoff times but easily avoided

Lack of yard space seems more common

I live in the area. You'll be hearing a lot of marching band music on Thursdays and Fridays, but it's generally not very loud. It's annoying sometimes to drive when school lets out, but highschool students in Lakewood are generally almost surprisingly responsible and not-annoying. The area itself is IMO primo Lakewood.

Can see the school from my house. You can hear football games with the windows closed a tad but nothing that would even stop me from sleeping. When outside today I could hear the baseball announcer, but nothing from inside. Traffic gets busy at 8:00 and 3:00, and I’d recommend just taking Madison instead of Franklin at those times and avoiding Bunts between the two. No issues whatsoever, plenty of kids walk by before and after school and not once have I seen one do anything rude. The upstairs gym is for the public, but is $27 a month or $270 a year. It’s not the biggest gym but always empty at lunch so it’s great to be able to walk there and back. And I love the neighborhood

School is only in session 8-3 five days a week, and even then only like ten months out of the year, rest of the time it's just an empty building with a community gym. There's a lot of plusses about that neighborhood, especially right by Madison. Lots of cool businesses bars and restaurants. I lived four blocks away for ten years and the only real hectic event I remember were big St Ed's games a few times a year, which can actually be kind of cool.

Like anywhere in Lakewood street parking is hit and miss. Taxes are what some people would consider high, and depending where you're coming from I've known people to complain about noise. Those are all things to consider anywhere in the city but I'd say that part of town is busier than most.

I'd be more concerned about buying a home near St Eds. Private school kids have more money and opportunity to get in trouble.

Plus all those out of town parents drive like jerks. My favorite is watching the cars with Ed's stickers going the speed limit on Chesterland when they have their kids in the car, and then blast 50 MPH leaving the city after dropping their kids off. You don't get this nearly as much with LHS since a large portion of the students still walk to school.
