Definitely! Just want a quiet home base, so that's no issue. Thanks :)

Not sure about Fitchburg, but Leominster is the burbs. If that's ok with you, it's fine.

I grew up in Franklin. There used to be a coffee shop downtown called Mel Divas that had open mic nights, games, sandwiches and bakery items and of course coffee. The rent downtown was too high and the place went under.

As a Foxboro resident, please come here! My partner and I desperately want a local coffee shop to get a good drink and a baked good and hang out for a little while. She also works remote and is always looking for somewhere to work out of the house for a change in scenery and Dunkin or honeydew don't have that vibe.

Searched zillow for a $1,200 2br.
Closest one is in Dorchester, over an hour away.
Sounds like you might want to turn down this job offer for lack of affordable housing or go with one bedroom or get a roommate.

I definitely agree not Swansea but something like that could work in Somerset, Fall River, and the towns in Bristol County RI

Lower right, the barn's a bit squishy there. But it's super close!

Me and a friend of mine saw something similar to that over Tampa except it was a blood orange color but it was the same size and shape. It's been 6 months since we saw it and we still have no idea what it could have been.

Plastic wrapping the windows, blocking up the fireplace, and weatherstripping the doors should help and it will be cheap. Putting in a new system is gonna be expensive and won’t do much good if you are losing a ton of heat out of the house. Mass save should be able to help with the cost of adding more insulation

What he says it wont be cheaper. Analogy to this may be electric car would not save that much money in winter compared to efficient gas/hybrid when electricity is this high we have now

I feel like Mansfield, Attleboro or Norwood all have walkable town centers that would be a good fit.

$1000 for a 3600sqft house is about right. My last bill was around $350 for a 1400 sqft with all heat pump and your house is almost 2.5x bigger than mine. You're spending a lot of money to heat a lot of empty rooms unless your household is huge. Upgrading to a new system will add more bills, especially if you're not qualified for mass save which I don't know how that's possible... I thought the rebate was for everyone.
The only way to lower those bills is going to be through labor. Install a fireplace insert and freestanding wood stove and start chopping woods. There are tons of people who would love to give you free wood if you can remove their logs and split it yourself.

Go to the hardware store and get yourself some plastic window insulation and install it. It takes a couple of minutes per window and has cut my utility bill considerably. Just do it.

What is causing the electric bill to be so high? My house is 3900 sqft and my electric bill is $120/month.

Are you sure you aren't talking about heat pumps with inverters? These days they're fully efficient down to -15F, at least mine is.

You really want to move to Taxachusetts?
There are some decent parts of Leominster and Fitchburg, but you won't find an apartment there. Everywhere else in those cities is pretty bad. Tough neighborhoods with the run off from the other big cities moving in.
In saying that, those neighborhoods are not like the pictures you see of Boston, Detroit, Chicago, LA that are filled with tent cities of the homeless, trash everywhere and burning vehicles. They are just changing from the nice, hardworking neighborhoods of the past. The rents are still high in those areas.
Rents are high everywhere in Mass , causing homelessness and squeezing out of the middle class.
I would seriously educate yourself on the areas at least 40 minutes out around those areas. Take your time and learn about the areas and go from there. $1200.00 a month for rent is going to be difficult to find.
