People aren’t losing land. That’s not how rezoning works.
All it means is that the town has to allow higher density housing near transit stops if someone who owns the land wants to build it.
Nobody is getting forcibly removed from their homes so somebody can knock them down.

I know what CORI stands for. Commitments are NOT supposed to show up on CORI's even if ordered there by the courts (if not there for having committed a crime.)

Do you not understand how zoning works?
I swear you people think that upzoning means that someone comes by with a bulldozer and forces you to move out of your house so they can knock it down.
Upzoning doesn’t mean eminent domain.
Upzoning means that when someone else purchases the property, neither you, nor any other NIMBY can tell them what they can and cannot build on their property.
Again, if you don’t want anything ever getting built in your precious suburb, feel free to buy up all the property in your neighborhood.

Im not firm on the details, whether people are losing land or if this is just rezoning owned land, such that it makes sense to develop it. Dont really care, either works. It is cool how you have so much compassion and worry for landowners but want renters and homeless to continue to struggle and suffer with the very limited housing available. How are the homeowners going to survive with potentially less land???? Think about the property value!!!

Reply to Thinking about a move to Mattapoisett. Anyone from around that way have anything good or bad to say about it? by bassistmuzikman
The only knock on the place is that it doesn’t have a high walk score waterfront village. You basically have whatever the Mattapoisett Inn is called now…. The Inn on Shipyard Park. And a not very functional general store. Shopping means a drive to Wareham, Fairhaven, or the Market Basket in New Bedford.
As a boat owner, it’s not a very protected harbor. For sailing, Cuttyhunk is dead upwind and part of Buzzards Bay is really choppy in the afternoon.
If I had kids in public schools, it would be my first choice on the South Coast.

He's beautiful. If his owner doesn't claim him, I bet he'll find a good home in no time at all.
Please keep us updated.

True but if it's condemed they will just squat until the cops take them out by force anyways. The house next to my building is condemed and that's what happened.

Same thing as if they brought a cup of Joe. I’d make my own coffee at home. Dunkin’ coffee is terrible in my opinion.

Not really all the rare. Negative temps are pretty normal where I grew up in the Berkshires. Maybe not normal this year, but I remember negative temps in the winters of my childhood.

“Or anywhere in MA.”
Lol dude that’s a broad category. Where are you even from? If the day is somewhat mild you can just walk around the city and pop into places. If it’s freezing cold I suggest doing something indoors, unless you don’t mind the cold. Cross country skiing is pretty fun. There are plenty of entertainment centers around, like Apex, Level 99, bar arcades, etc. Just use Google my friend.

These temperatures are rare for this specific area. Temps like these could easily kill people who are left to exposure. This is not just any other weather event lol

“Neighborhood character” = none of those slightly less affluent or people or darker complexion living here
