This could be a completely legitimate and appropriate use of force, but I’m interested if we ever hear more about it. This news story looks like they basically reprinted the press release from the police with zero additional investigation. That might be fine, but in a lot of high-profile police killings in recent years, the original press releases have a lot of inaccurate or omitted information. At the minimum, I would be really interested to know what the weapon in question was.

Does he have a tax ID? Use that. If I recall correctly it's less used for identification and more for tax purposes if taxes are owed so they can issue a 1099. I deal with it fairly frequently for estates and such and if there are years of interest or dividends accrued you can owe taxes on those amounts.

It's a HUGE hassle for anything complex like that. I gave up trying to recover my deceased grandfather's account because they wouldn't accept the estate paperwork.

I recovered some money from the site. I made a mistake somewhere on the form and that led to an email which I believe contained a phone number I used to get clarification about what they were questioning. So, I would suggest submitting the form with any information you can and then hope for a response from them which may provide you a way to contact a human. It is a slow process, good luck.

Opinion:

I caught that too. They admit she posed no threat, but still were fearful for their lives. How does that work? Answer: It does not. It is a complete contradiction. It's "code" for, but we really wanted to shoot her, but don't want to say we wanted to shoot her.

That said, stories like these are why I try to avoid cell phones and cell phone cases that are black, silver, or any dark color when possible. My current Pixel is bright, light green. It was this or white. I doubt it would make much of a difference, if someone wants to make an excuse, they'll make an excuse. Still, it's something I fear you have to think about these days.
