When this was first required I couldn't afford health insurance through my employer. When I was doing my taxes myself online I had been able to claim religious exemption and avoid the penalty with no proof needed. I don't know if this is still a thing but it got me through a few years until I got a better job with affordable insurance.

No one thinks it will happen to them...until you think about how many people you personally know that have been in an accident, had cancer, required any kind of surgery or ER visit. Your degree of separation from any of these things is ZERO and it absolutely could be you next.

I also have a prescription for 9 migraine pills and the last time I picked it up at CVS they only gave me six. When I called them back, they looked at the computer and immediately were able to tell that they messed it up and we’re almost goofy about it. They told me I could come pick up the other three tablets and to just let the pharmacy counter person know, and they would just pass them to me, it sounded super weird, so I never went back to get them.

I had a stroke about a year and a half ago. Went to Melrose Wakefield. All the signs of a stroke (slurred speech, BP through the roof, disoriented) and I waited in the ER for 7 hours. (I know I should have called an ambulance but I wasn’t exactly thinking straight.) Finally they admitted me. And I was in-patient for about 5 days. Didn’t tell me what was going on, nurses were rude and dismissive.

I don’t recommend it.
