Please don't! Get some / any insurance.. it might sound like a lot but regular health exams are probably covered and even if there is no catastrophic incident that requires it, you will benefit from medical exams. Best wishes

Newburyport and Rockport are nice to walk through. I love looking at house architecture so Newburyport really appeals to me.

You could drive to Provincetown although a lot of it will be closed there are still restaurants open and beautiful seashore ( dress really warmly).

You could drive out to North Adams and visit the Museum of Contemporary Art. It is an experience. Its an amazing place.

My parents build their house in like 2014 in CT and my brother did in 2019 in CT as well, so not exactly MA. I am shopping for a house right now. For them they lived there for a while and had zero major maintenance issues. Their roofs, and utilities are brand new, their heating and cooling is ridiculously efficient. I am comparing it to shopping for used house, where often you find bunch of things that need to be replaced. Also, all the layout and cosmetics changes are up to their standards. My parents have extended raise ranch and it's great. My brother has some colonial with multiple walk-in bathroom and bunch of cool build in gadgets. One issue that my parents had was a tiny leak in the roof which was promptly fixed by contractor who build their house. Since then zero issues.

On the other side, their starting price was whatever the contractor wanted which is already higher than used homes. With their additions and changes, the price went up even more.

From my personal perspective, it is worth it but not as your first home. I am looking to buy my first home. I am learning about homes and i will learn about maintenance. I am also going to learn about my actual needs.

One thing of note, be super involved in the process. If you don't check on the building status the contractor can screw you over. You can find your own contractors but they would need to adhere to the schedule.

How would you invest in the community? Which communities are we speaking about? I agree that just throwing money at police isn’t necessarily the answer, especially considering that I’d be worried about where that money would be taken from. I’m not for bolstering police if it meant something like taking away social programs for kids. Maybe something they could do would be to invest more money in the schools. Pay the teachers better and just in general invest more money into the future generations.

Dont play the lotto then, it is every individual’s duty to be aware of what they buy. You can tell these people that the odds are stacked against them but if they were willing to spend it on the lotto they will end up spending it anyway on the next person/business trying to get money from them. Like my grandmother she wastes so much money on lotto tickets despite losing overall just trying to get the next elusive 500, $1000 win. If she doesn’t spend it on them she wastes it buying useless items. Everyone has to be responsible for themselves. Inform others let them make their own choice
