Seems like a good compromise, but I can totally see how frustrating that is when there is waste of any kind, food waste is particularly egregious when there is so much hunger around. I hope you're doing much better in the subsequent years!

In this I agree- and bought an Electric Vehicle. No more gas stations for me. Side bar; contrary to 'what everyone knows" my EV has not caught fire, can be charged{where I live} with ease, or at home, and needs next to ZERO in maintenance. For the anti EV crowd, spare me the talking points of the anti- EV bought and paid for, 'news stories'. Neither I nor the entire European continent will believe you.

Hate to tell you this, but conventional plywood is biaxial, so there's really no "wrong direction". We're also not comparing it to real lumber. The surface veneer of cabinet grade plywood is also exceedingly thin, doesn't count as one of the structural plies, and has no bearing on the grain direction of the underlying plies.
The point is, they're faking the fake stuff now.

Yes, veneer has been around forever.
This is not veneer, however.

Plywood is the new hardwood, apparently. Prices of it are pretty high I suppose.

Why not have real raw plywood cracked edges, then?

Reply to My thermostat uses the expansion/contraction of a drop mercury to conduct electricity and trigger when to turn off and on. by Iain_MS
House has been in the family for 50 years. The first 30 we had a mercury thermostat. It was still working when my parents ripped it out to put a digital one in, which needs new batteries every year and the unit itself seems to need replacing every five years.

Verdigris? That's a blue-green tarnish from copper reacting with the environment. I'm pretty sure the picture instead shows exposed zinc where copper plating was worn away.

Reply to comment by derepeco in An 87 year old half dollar I found ejected from a coinstar by Ravenclaw_14
Sometimes coins don't get ejected but don't get counted either and end up in a separate container meant for trash, damaged coins, and other non-coin items.
Coinstar has their employees ship any coins found in that to an office that definitely profits off of them. Corporate also been known to go to random machines, and put in specific coins that will go into that container, then watch for the employee to send it in. If they don't send it in, coinstar fires them for stealing.
