The very first things that comes to mind is “The Goldfinch” from 2019. The trailers made it look like an enthralling, emotional epic. Couple that with the talent involved in the cast and the always reliable Roger Deakins as cinematographer, what could possibly go wrong?

Everything.

Aside from Roger Deakin’s visuals and a few quality performances (namely Sarah Paulson’s) “The Goldfinch” was little more than a bloated mess of a film that takes two hours and twenty nine minutes to say nothing.
