Mine is that Andy Dufresne in Shawshank Redemption actually did kill his wife and her lover, but his trauma- and alcohol-addled mind blocked it out and he didn’t remember doing it. (I know this requires you to explain away Tommy’s old cellmate as falsely taking responsibility for a well-publicized double murder he had nothing to do with, but that seems like less of a wild coincidence than someone happening to commit those murders—the very same night Andy was going to then changed his mind—and managing to leave no evidence that would exclude Andy.)
