Upon first hearing of Todd Field's 2001 masterpiece In the Bedroom, the title sounded akin to a posh British film about an affair. But the film is set in America, it begins similarly to a conventional drama film...then, oh...an unexpected murder happens...and another murder.
Do any users here have other hilarious examples? This is also inspired by the IMDb polls about alternate storylines for famous films. (Black Hawk Down could be a docu-drama about a group of veterans as they work to heal an injured bird.)
