Thoughts on Viva (2007)?

What do you think of this one? I really loved The Love Witch but Viva was so goofy I don’t know if I liked it or not. I love that it’s almost a satire of the 70s sexploitation films but some parts were so bad. The best thing was the aesthetic, colors, costumes, and set. Spot on to the time period. It was pretty funny in parts too.

I love the style here - but there’s a slightly awkward delivery/acting. The magic doesn’t come together like The Love Witch.

I’m not sure if I care for the movie’s premise in that it’s casting the sexual revolution as male dominated. It doesn’t leave much space for female fantasy.

Yeah the acting was really bad but then I realized I think she did it that way intentionally because those types of 70s films were so cheesy.

To me it seemed almost like weaponized feminity but then she was getting raped a lot which I hated.

Still pretty fluffy though which I liked.
