Just saw this yesterday on Netflix and must say it just might be the best Netflix original movie and is one of the best World War movies. It shows you the horror of the War, especially the WW1. I might have cried twice during the movie, the POV is great, plus it is engrossing to see how the negotiations worked out alongside the war.
Plus, it succeeds alright in giving out the Anti-War message by basing it on a 17-year-old boy who has enrolled in the army just because he did not want to feel left out. The music score is spot on, and the scenes (especially the one where Paul stabs the enemy soldier in the pit) make you want to cry your heart out.

Oh, this one does a great job at showing you the German side of things too, something that was unnecessarily criticized in some of the critic reviews I feel. The film also does great at making you hate the higher-ranking officials by showing a proper contrast in the lives of the soldiers and the major general fuckers.

Kat deserved a better end than being shot by a 8-year-old chum from the farm but apart from that, it is absolute gold.
