I just saw Friday The 13th in the theater in observance of it being Friday the 13th and decided to follow it up with Jason X when I got home. With both the first and last film being very different than the rest of the series, there is barely any connection between the two films. It got me wondering though about what other franchises would be really strange to watch the first and last film of without any context of seeing the other movies in between.
