A lot of Shakespeare’s plays have been converted into film format, some very good, some not so much. What Shakespeare film adaptation do you think is the best?
For me the answer is Julius Caesar starring Marlon Brando and James Mason, I rewatch it all the time. Brando giving Caesar’s funeral speech I think is one of the stronger pieces of acting in his career.
I also thought Macbeth with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard deserves an honorable mention, I think it was directed particularly well and the dark tone it was shot in really meshed well with the theme of the story.
