War of the Roses.
First half feels like any ol' meetcute movie romance of the era, with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. But it's not - it's a Danny Devito movie, and the black comedy emerges as the marriage starts breaking down and getting ugly. One of my favorite movies, because it's just so well written and Douglas and Turner subvert the kinds of roles they're both famous for brilliantly.

You imagine Doc had an Edsel in the 50s? Same general story, car of the future that wound up sucking ass.

I love found footage. I feel the cinematography is more creative, and I find the style makes the movie much more immersive

>As a horror fan this is upsetting.because so many these days are found footage.
I don't think this is even true anymore. I watched like 30 horror movies that came out last year and maybe 1 or 2 of them were found footage. That trend has mostly died out over the last 5-10 years.

Give The Death of Stalin a shot. It's funny as shit while simultaneously conveying the terror and mistrust which surrounded Stalin, his closest advisors, and the Soviet Union in general.

I use IMDB and every time I explain my rating system to someone that tell me I’m insane.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Relatively watchable
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Is enjoyable at parts, but over not that good
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Average
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A better than average movie
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A good movie
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A great movie

That's not true. I remember TV Spots including vampires as well. Everyone knew the kind of movie it was at the time. It was heavily marketed in that direction. Same with Terminator 2. It's fun in the movie on it's own. People who were excited to see those movies knew what they were going into them. It was all over the posters, trailers, TV spots. Source: I was there.
I understand some people may have gone in blind at the time. But it was pretty difficult to avoid the advertising for it at the time if you were into that sort of thing.

"There are no rules in filmmaking. Only sins. And the cardinal sin is dullness." - Capra
AKA, how many times did I check the runtime to see if it was almost over. If I’m entertained I’ll rate it high.

How much I liked it, thats it because the ratings are there just for me to keep track of what I watched and what I thought about them then. Usually between 6-10 because lower than that and I wont finish it.
If I was a professional critic I would take into consideration how well the film succeeds at its goal, its technical quality and if the general audience member is going to like it, but I dont need to think about any of that.
