I know not everyone was a huge fan of Avatar: Way of Water

This has to be a joke, right? I've seen LITERALLY NOTHING but praise for this movie, as well as the first one; and I'll NEVER understand why these movies get so much praise.

EDIT: Imagine downvoting me cuz I spoke the truth. 😒

Fan of the series.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s pro-Russia propaganda. The most significant poke at Russia would be their nukes have no safety and two triggers. I think it’s more directed towards the Chinese stereotype of Russians.

In the first movie, it also depicted Russian astronauts bringing vodka into space station. Another stereotype.

Overall I think I can read the favored tone towards Russian tho. But I would probably just rule it to “poke fun at them” since to Chinese viewers this is also a “new year” movie so some comedic stuff are included

I appreciate it, but thinking about it was eating at me and I had to try. :)

I found this story that covers several of the points.

I also read someplace that their goodbye kiss just before his fateful flight was more like siblings than lovers. As in, she turns her head to the side so he kisses her cheek instead of her lips.
