Giri/Haji on Netflix is technically a limited series that plays out as an eight-hour film. It swaps residents from Tokyo & London for nearly the entirety of its runtime.

5/5 stars, one of the best things I've ever watched on the streamer.

I love that they showed how awkward or even impossible it would be to resume prior relationships, to just go back to your old job, etc. I like how it even revealed how trivial a person's death and legacy could be rather than the whole world mourning his presumed death in Hollywood fashion.

Rather than the rescue being a feel-good, celebratory end to the story, it was kind of a rebirth where he had to leave his old life behind and start a new one.

It's one of those movies that I have to watch whenever it's on, no matter how many times I've already seen it.

Despite all the complaining about the "Woke era" you until relatively recent most minorities creatives are the ones who had walk on eggshells to not offended the studio. When you talk about honestly who are we talking about here because I feel what you describing is the fact if you not a guaranteed blockbuster you'll get taking out of cinema after three weeks.
