Well I'm not leaving my child just because he came back. I assume he loved her.

Omg Tarsem Singh is back, I thought he'd never make a film again since the only thing he did in like 7 years was that Lady Gaga music video. Dude has made some of the most gorgeous movies (aside from Self/Less)

I for one am SUPER pumped to see people enthusiastically talking about movies. I frankly don’t know why that person even follows this sub if not to share others excitement for cinema. Can’t make heads or tails of that one.
It’d be different if you just told us like something completely empty of any personality. But this was well structured and charming with a clear adoration for the simple act of sitting down to watch a movie. And for that, you’re a rockstar. Movies are our medicine, that person is clearly just having a cranky day.
PS. Avatar was so good in theaters it nearly made me tear up simply from the idea that James Cameron loves movies THAT much. What a marvelous project. And I used to hate avatar with a passion when it first came out.

Undone season 1 consists of eight 20-minute episodes that all came out on the same day. It practically is a movie.

I always thought The Driver (78) was a huge influence on Drive.
With its hyper stoic lead and long periods of silent chase scenes.

There’s an element of this in the Count of Monte Cristo which similarly gave me mixed feelings.

I think you need to read a bit more on the McCarthy era if that's seriously what you think. To me you sound like the people who compared mask mandates to the early stages of the holocaust.
I mean, just the fact that one is the result of public pressure and the other is a case of government tyranny puts them on different planets.
If you really want to compare our time to a past despicable episode in Hollywood history, the Hays code would be better. That was a case of self-censorship.

Where did the whale bro get his tattoos?!? All I could think about was some seedy underwater cave with The Cramps playing on the radio and some strung out whale with a giant tattoo gun lol

Thanks! I don't get why some people just need to be an ass about it. Like yeah, no one asked me to but I wanted to do it anyways. And if people don't like it, then that's on them

I think the milk thing was a subtle reference to him being a bit on the heavier side before too.

The scene where he's at the bar and he tries to order a non-alcoholic drink. But the bartender, innocently, asks if "that's all he wants." And how that's all the invitation for an alcoholic to need.
The scene that REALLY got me was the scene toward the end in the hotel with the mini bar. He marvels at all the bottles but closes the fridge door. Only to pop right back in just a few seconds and go on a bender.
Those scenes were uncomfortably familiar for me. Drinking has only become a "problem" for me since Covid. But man, shit has spun out of control fast. I had been drinking responsibly for 18+ years before that. And in a matter of months it became an issue.
I'm not sober. But I'm getting everyone I know familiar with my problem. So they know they can't push me to "have one more" or stay later. And I just found out one of my best friends, who has been kinda MIA the last year, just went full sober. He's going to weekly meetings. He was my favorite drinking partner. I couldn't be prouder of him. It feels like the world is showing me the way out.

Nate Burleson has had a tremendous transition into his post playing career. Not only does he get to be an analyst for CBS' NFL coverage (and NFL Network), but he's now one of their main newsman as well, anchoring CBS Mornings too. And is doing this for the Kids Choice Awards as well. He was always well spoken and I definitely had him pegged for a good analyst, but I wouldn't have guessed this amount of success.
I still remember when he was with the Lions and broke his arm in a car crash trying to save pizza from sliding off the passenger seat.

Thanks! I can definitely see why some people wouldn't like La La Land, but for me, the music was nice and catchy and the performances and the cinematography was phenomenal. But that's the neat thing isn't it? Not every movie is for every one and that's okay. If every one liked all the same movies, then life would be boring.

I have the perception that 'horror' films tend to rely on jump scares. Which doesn't interest me.
But I love Silence of the lambs.

I would have much preferred a big budget Iron Fist movie over the Netflix series that we ended up with. They could have done something from The Immortal Iron Fist, like the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven, and it could have been amazing with good special effects and great fight choreography.
At least we have Shang Chi, I guess.

Wait, you are saying, somehow, that Jackie Brown, a literal masterpiece, is the equivalent of a movie that hasn't even come out yet but there was so much drama in its production it ended up being directed by Louis freaking Leterrier and if was preceded by a film that was so ridiculously stupid it was unbelievable that there is not a remote chance it is anything more than mind-numbingly stupid????
