Then you need to pay more attention re Avatar. It's an amazingly visually-beautiful film with with zero depth using cardboard cutouts, potted plants, and cliche` where story should be.

Same reviewer for Avatar 2

I haven't been bored enough to watch the second one yet, and tbf if/when I finally am, I'm considering just leaving the sound off and watching the absolutely-no-doubt visually stunning CG world -- after the first one, I have no confidence getting involved in the plot would even be worth a game of name-that-trope.

(To be fair, I saw a fan-edit someone did that was more watchable than what was in theaters by just nixing the B-thread...)

Exactly. It's the problem with the 'horror' genre.

Depends on how you describe it.

There's not much difference between predator, Alien and Halloween.

A group of people being killed one by one, by a monster.

I mean, the way it's shot makes the spikes super obvious to the point I always wondered how the giant Predator was ever supposed to not notice them. Add to that the way Dutch yells and tries to goad it into continuing down, telegraphing to the Predator a suspicious desire to use that path.

Maybe it's Schwarzenegger's acting but what you call 'crestfallen' also just looks like him dropping the act and realizing that the Predator is going for it. When it approaches, he's completely calm and you actually see him giving it a confident sideways look before he checks if the Predator is in the right spot, the shot of the counterweight as much for him as it is for the audience to understand what's happening.

Weird non-sequitur. The trial showed he was legally allowed to be where he was, that he was legally armed, that his life was credibly threatened more than once, and that his self-defense was measured and commensurate with the threats. I don't know what you're mumbling about regarding travel or history, but it's not relevant here.
