Neither of those sentences are related to something I said. You should reread my comment.

What makes the McCarthy era different is not the target. I’m not talking about the target. I’m talking about the severity of the censorship and that State censorship is so much worse than simple public pressure.

And I didn’t call you anti-mask. I’m saying you’re exaggerating what’s happening now (or downplaying what happened then) because you’re comparing it to something incomparably worse. They’re not on the same level, you’re engaging in hyperbole.

But if you have so much trouble understanding such a simple comment, I don’t know how much good my advice on reading more about McCarthy would do, you need to dramatically improve your reading comprehension skills before that. Friendly advice.

Well, the D&D fan-base has started to get heavily into the actual play model, and I feel that's what they were going with here. With successes like "Critical Role" and the like, you can do original characters in a familiar "D&D" setting, and the fans will buy in. They're your core demographic - and if they like the movie, that could start to draw in other genre fans.

That said, the movie isn't going to perform well because the company which owns the IP just did something which alienated their entire fan-base months prior to the release.

Yes I've seen the scene, I literally just described it. You're also just repeating what I said. I know he disguised the spikes, I know he's trying to get it to move down the path in a very obvious manner. That doesn't negate what I said, it really just supports it. The way the Predator notices the spikes, it would have had to seriously crouch down to be unaware of this trap. And it gives Dutch a cocky 'I know what you're doing' look before it walks around.

Point being, the original trap is extremely obvious and Dutch is being extremely obvious in wanting the Predator to move down that path.

Dutch doesn't move, he doesn't panic, he seems to know exactly what's gonna happen and he waits for the Predator to get into place, making sure it's underneath and then kicks off the trap. Your counter suggestion seems to be that he just got extremely lucky that he placed his counterweight exactly in the spot the Predator ended up moving to by circumventing the original trap.

I'll concede that there's an original trap he would have sprung if the Predator had kept going but I'm sorry I'm not buying this idea that Dutch is surprised and caught off guard when it doesn't fall for the original trap. The whole idea here is 'You thought you were the top hunter, but I outsmarted you!'.

You might be confusing the scene being shot to heighten tension for the audience with Dutch just getting lucky because at the end of the day, we the audience are meant to think "oh shit, what is he gonna do now?".

To be fair, Taxi Driver is an odd movie. It’s hard to like Travis Bickle, but truth be told the movie is EXTREMELY cool, like the cinematography is just epic, like the driving scenes and the scenes with the guns, and Travis’ plight is relatable but he is also clearly lost his mind, though hopefully he regained it after killing those shitty pimps and getting Iris home safely. Honestly I just love the speeches in the movie, like his speech, where he’s like fumbling over his words and trying to sound cool; ‘Listen up you cocksuckers, here is a man who would not stand for it any longer.’ Or like Palantine’s speech where he’s just like, ‘WE are the people. We’re tired of this. We demand change. No longer will the few control the many.’ Like it’s such a cookie-cut joke of a political speech, it’s hilarious, in a morbid way. Scorsese is really a genius.
