There’s several books with that name. Do you know the author?

Definitely Crimson Tide
Perfectly paced, pretty close to peak Denzel and Gene Hackman, score by Hans Zimmer, Tony Scott directed with contributions from a number of legends (like Tarantino). Great supporting cast with Viggo Mortensen and Gandolfini. Probably my favorite movie set at sea.
Love making lists by year and 95 is one of the strongest.

Yep, Shawshank is known for being one of the best movies ever and it was a box office dissapointment

Edit: it made 16M in its initial run compared to a $25M budget

Funny thing too is they actually had a great book they could have just adapted called Kenobi. Instead they just wrote arguably one of the most mediocre stories, filled with lots of cameos that achieved nothing in the end.

But, he makes it for Governer who gifts it to Norrington. Norrington gives it to Will. Beckett takes it and and keeps it with him. Then, gives it to Norrington, Norrington stabs Davy Jones with it. He takes it and then, eventually stabs Will with it. He dies.
It comes full circle. I get that part. It's its journey i am wondering about.

There were obviously horses as well. Aside from the fact that a 7-hour walk isn't even that, between boats and horses they definitely could have made the trip much easier.

If you’re interested in reading on this, I’d recommend “The Big Picture” which is a book that follows Sony studios from the late 90’s to mid 2010’s. Touches on exactly what your post is about.

Agreed. Is it crass? Yes. Is some of the humor cheap? Yes. Is every stereotype on the table to be poked at? Yes. I’m totally fine with a satirical movie that is willing to poke at each group’s hypocrisy. There are some cringy moments for me during the movie but it’s all part and parcel for an attempt at making fun of everyone and everything.

Movies were corporatized in the 1980s, as movie studios were absorbed by public companies with stock holders and larger market demands. The true end of the creative era depicted in Babylon.
Now movies are conceived of, and rolled out as, large corporate campaigns.

The difference is that the victims in Dahmer are real people. So putting those scenes into a movie or TV show could have negative impact on the victim's families and friends who happen to see it. Yes, we could say, well they can just avoid the show or movie, but why even put it out there?

There are millions of things vying for the attention span of every consumer. That includes content made my imbeciles on Tik Tok. It's not like the days when there were three networks and an indie station or two.

Some scenes in Nightmare on Elm Street were close I think. Opening a door in the factory, just to fall out and land in the front yard. Things like that.

World Dominance (I'm in a race with Pinky and the Brain), Riches enough to make Elon Musk my personal rocket pilot, and the magic to force all politicians to only tell the truth.
It's not working so far but damn it I'm trying!
One might also infer that since I quoted a section of a post that I was addressing that particular point given the context -- re: "and I'll NEVER understand why these movies get so much praise" -- that you weren't the only one.
The internet is a f-ing weird place: you support someone's point of view and...they get hostile 🙄. I'm just gonna 'nope' outta this right here.
