“Pushing a message” has been around for a loooooooooooooong time my friend. It’s just that you guys have now weaponized the word “woke” to go against anything that is non-traditional. Guess what? A majority of the population supports these “woke messages”. Before you give an example of Velma as “go woke go broke”, we think it sucks as well. Not for the same reasons though.

She was a major diva and very difficult to work with in person. That’s been my experience and that if others I know that have worked with her.

Oh, oh my. That is certainly a hot take. I’m not even confident it will do 25% of Avatar 2’s business, realistically maybe even less.

These failed for all the same reason, which is NOT normal. Studios generally don't purposefully put out bad products, except over the last few years.
They choose to push a message instead of entertaining, and that is exactly what the problem is. It is as simple as that.

Brandon Cronenberg came out and said there wasn't much of a difference in the NC-17 Cut. I'm guessing the orgy scene was more lewd. I also heard there was a close up of a penis ejaculating.

i didn't think that final montage was controversial, just arrogant. To me, it was the director trying to tell us that his movie should be considered a classic, like many of those he included in the montage. For me it put a This Is Not A Great Movie exclamation mark on the proceedings. Of course, we already knew the director thought he had made a classic when we saw that it was going to run over 3 hours. Maybe it would have been better if he had eliminated half the movie....maybe.

One of my regrets as a parent is that while on family vacation with the kids, we watched Castaway on cable, and bloated with commercials as it was, the movie stretched on well past a reasonable bedtime for the kids. So after having pushed on as long as I could, I finally turned it off at a commercial break....right after the scene when Hanks loses Wilson overboard on his getaway raft. My kids were devastated that they didn't get to see the ending, and we've still never remembered to circle back and watch the whole thing. Though I did warn them that he never gets Wilson back :_(

I gave you an example from each decade and one of them is a white guy who had almost no black people critique his work negatively (although that's mostly because he's from a journalism background so he actually knows how to research properly).
I also don't think you understand what we're talking about I'm talking about writers and directors not actors.

Lots of projects fail, that’s normal. Never heard of the hunt. Not sure what black panther 2 and ghost busters have in common, unless you just…see the number of women go up and get mad?
Nope was merely okay, a bit too heady for me but I get what they were trying to say. Not sure what part of it was woke tho, seemed self-indulgent story about the nature of filmmaking and entertainment. The type of stuff people in the industry enjoy more than normal people do
Like, given the earlier definition, what does a “non-woke” Nope look like? Or black panther 2? Specifically what would you change.

I think some folks eye-rolled at the final scene since it's a little schmaltzy.

Literally everything I said in my comments were objective observations. I'm not name-calling. I'm simply saying that what you are saying is wrong. You were stating things that you saw in the movie that simply aren't there. I'm sorry I didn't package these comments with more fluff and niceties.
Now I'll switch to the subjective. You are what's wrong with internet discussions. Yes, you. This was a perfectly civil discussion until your last reply. I was offering a counter-point to what I believe to be incorrect statements. You then replied with your counter-points. And as soon as I say "no interest in arguing", you start with the "arrogant" statement and commenting on my ego. You clearly read into my replies like I was somehow insulting you, when (again), I was pointing out objective errors in your statements. You're inserting attitude into my prior replies that simply wasn't there.
If I'm wrong, prove it. But I've seen this movie no fewer than 20 times. When you say I need to go back and rewatch the scene where he's collecting packages and later opening them, I remember them exactly. But I don't have any desire to dive into the details with you, because you'll somehow read into that as an insult.
But I do plan on re-watching this movie with my 7 year old sometime soon. When I watch it, I'll be sure and pay extra close attention to the scenes you referenced. If I notice anything other than what my memory contains, I'll come find this comment chain and eat crow.
Every brain cell I have says don't hit reply, but here goes...

I'm crazy on this issue.
I want to see a total removal of all film ratings at this point. Or at the very least have just two. One that's suitable for all ages. And one that's for teenagers and up.
