I avoided Everything Everywhere All At Once at first due to all the hype everywhere, then a trusted friend said it was good so I watched it. Definitely a great movie, worth the hype in my opinion.

Marilyn Monroe is a character that was created to sell a product. A lot of time that product was sex in an environment that was relatively sexless. We still use that character to sell shit like posters and candy bars. I think to look at Monroe as a role model is just another reinvention of that brand.

Norma Jean was the person behind that and whether or not she is a role model is a complicated question that doesn’t have one definitive answer. She was a woman with a lot of brilliance that managed to get ahead at times in a system designed to digest her, but at the end of the day it did in fact consume her.

Blonde is an exploration of the way we create and consume celebrities. I think rather than asking if she is a role model, we should be investigating the way in which we as an audience consume these women.

I watched it and it’s one of the most cringe films I’ve seen in a while. I didn’t think it was offensive but then again I’m not Jewish or Muslim. I did google Louis Farrakhan afterward and….yikes that’s just peak cringe.

this movie had a amazing cast but it felt extremely stiff and non-organic. Eddie Murphy’s character is irrationally angry at everything. He doesn’t like non-Muslims, seems to openly hate Jews. He doesn’t like white peoples, and even openly mocks light skin black people in the opening scene.

This movie is essentially “Jews=rich, white=bad, black=angry”

Also on a separate note Jonah Hill isn’t looking well, he looks a decade older than the character he is playing.

Isn't the Nun part of The Conjuring series? Maybe you're blending in something from those movies. I think she's featured quite a bit in The Conjuring 2. Couldn't say for sure as I don't remember them all too well and they definitely blend together for me.
