I loved Night of the Hunter! Probably why my family calls me a film snob...

Lots of people watched it and they had me on the trailer because of "What's the difference"

Well obviously some people in the jewish community will be offended. Not the best timing to have someone support Farrakhan and not getting called out on it + the kanye soundtrack

Not familiar with his work but this feels clumbsy and only acceptable because it is currently pilitically correct. I feel like it will age very poorly

Kinda feel like Far Cry might be in there somewhere too. Especially the latter ones.

I avoided Everything Everywhere All At Once at first due to all the hype everywhere, then a trusted friend said it was good so I watched it. Definitely a great movie, worth the hype in my opinion.

Also why wasn't there any scenes of awkwardness between the try hard oblivious to her racism mom and the stiff antisemitic dad?

Reply to Is Marilyn Monroe a “role model”? by davesthread
Marilyn Monroe is a character that was created to sell a product. A lot of time that product was sex in an environment that was relatively sexless. We still use that character to sell shit like posters and candy bars. I think to look at Monroe as a role model is just another reinvention of that brand.
Norma Jean was the person behind that and whether or not she is a role model is a complicated question that doesn’t have one definitive answer. She was a woman with a lot of brilliance that managed to get ahead at times in a system designed to digest her, but at the end of the day it did in fact consume her.
Blonde is an exploration of the way we create and consume celebrities. I think rather than asking if she is a role model, we should be investigating the way in which we as an audience consume these women.

I watched it and it’s one of the most cringe films I’ve seen in a while. I didn’t think it was offensive but then again I’m not Jewish or Muslim. I did google Louis Farrakhan afterward and….yikes that’s just peak cringe.
this movie had a amazing cast but it felt extremely stiff and non-organic. Eddie Murphy’s character is irrationally angry at everything. He doesn’t like non-Muslims, seems to openly hate Jews. He doesn’t like white peoples, and even openly mocks light skin black people in the opening scene.
This movie is essentially “Jews=rich, white=bad, black=angry”
Also on a separate note Jonah Hill isn’t looking well, he looks a decade older than the character he is playing.

Reply to The Nun; confused. by SirGinger76
Isn't the Nun part of The Conjuring series? Maybe you're blending in something from those movies. I think she's featured quite a bit in The Conjuring 2. Couldn't say for sure as I don't remember them all too well and they definitely blend together for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if within 10 years we will see films completely made by AI. Actors either selling their identity or having it stolen to be used in film or more illicit/damning things.

> If you sit at a table with 10 average people from the city, odds are that you won't have much agreement if you tell them you are against your black daughter marrying a white dude.
What people believe and what they are willing to admit--even anonymously--are two very different things.

Are there any antisemitic jokes from the antisemitic characters? Are there any explicit expression of antismitism?

The movie had funny parts but was generally a disappointment considering I expected hill and Murphy to make a truly funny movie, but everything in this article rings true.

NO. Everything to do with Monroe's public image was Hollywood fantasy from start to finish.

Defending You Life, with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep. You're on trial in the afterlife, and they show snippets of your life like video evidence.
