That's true but there's a huge gulf between "young adult" books and "young adult" pretty much everything else. Books can get away with a ton of stuff that movies/games/etc would get crucified for. Ender's Game being a perfect example.

I don't understand the comments, but I thought it was called the sword of destiny in the PotC fandom. When Calypso tells Will he has a touch of destiny about him, on re-watch I thought it was this sword she was foreseeing.

The sword doesn't't cause things to happen, it is just there throughout Will's journey. In the first movie it's clearly just something to connect Will with Norrington. Later they planned it such that Will will get killed by the same sword.

That's the one. I think he even went on tour (or at least wanted to) with composer Dan Deacon, who did the score live along with a live-edit of the movie. And Coppola would sometimes just press a button to randomize scenes. Something like that. Truly a unique presentation in film history and something people don't talk about enough. Some people felt like Coppola's powers kind of declined a bit towards the end, but I dare them to find a director who was that sharp and that innovative at Coppola's age. Aside from maybe Godard, I don't think that director exists.

To be fair the Peter/Valentine sub-plot is pretty ridiculous.

Peter basically takes over the world through a series of internet debates.

Though it was written in 1985 (when the internet was still full of possibilities), and the author isn't exactly sane (Empire is even more ridiculous).

Yeah, I've been going to theaters for years before the pandemic, sometimes as much as once a week, and I can count on one hand the bad experiences.

Got a baby and it's stupid parents kicked out of Mad Max once. Poor thing was crying it's head off. With how loud that movie is, it's borderline child abuse.

Luke Perry and Johnny Depp don’t belong in the same conversation. I’m sorry and I’m Not trying to be rude, but that’s a fact. Fir an actor from tv to movies, no one can compared to his rise from tv star to superstar. Sure he’s super weird now, but he still Johnny depp

Richard Drysdale throws the baseball on Harlan's desk just to spite the dead Harlan. Blanc finds it outside then leaves in on a side table in the room they did the will-reading. Towards the end of the film, Linda finds the ball and places it back on her father's study. Where she finds the letter Richard discarded as blank shortly before throwing out the ball. That's how she finds out he's been cheating on her, leading to him getting a black eye, and probably a bad divorce (she made him sign a prenup) after the events of the movie.

Some of my favourite comedies and very formative in my sense of humour. In high school I kind of did a lot of everything. I played most sports but I was also good with writing and acting. I was friends with some of the improv team and I ended up joining in grade 12 and we finished 2nd in the country. Those guys were the ones who introduced me to them and I still watch those movies 20 years later. By far the best improv you will see in Hollywood movies. Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy are absolute comedian legends. Their chemistry is as good as it gets.
