You won't be lost at all. Its a Ridley Scott film, the point of it is to tell you a damn good story, the setting is just incidental really.

Yeah I feel like the people not getting it weren't fully hooked thoughout because the ending doesn't spell it out in bold writting its nice and subtle.

It's basically a fantasy version of ancient Rome anyway, so actual knowledge of it would just hurt.

Yes you will understand it. I think it’s actually worse if you’re a Roman history fan because of the inaccuracies. It’s a great movie, enjoy!

Watch the movie, though it does reference historic period of the Roman Empire, it is not a true story. It’s a good watch through and through, definitely deserves top 250 all time

It's not 100% historically accurate, the story itself isn't rooted in a specific real event. Great film IMO.

He can tell the upcoming saga of how banks and hedge funds destroyed america and profited from its downfall and invention Al hyperinflation in to the dollar end game. But he probably won’t.

I've seen too many people not get what happens in the end but that just makes me love it more. It's not ham-fisted but still obvious if you've been paying attention.

I had the same reaction. I've never had an emotional response to a movie the way I had with Aftersun. I can't even articulate it, it's been a few weeks and I'm still trying to process it.
