To me, he feels like he is constantly acting to win an award. Not necessarily over acting or hamming it up, per say....just feels a bit dramatic. I don't know how to describe it, ha!

I agree, but he doesn’t really feel like a different character often times to me. He’s always just Decaprio playing X. He doesn’t melt into a role the way other serious actors like Daniel Day Lewis or Gary Oldman do, for me at least. I’d put him more on the A-List movie star tier where you go see a movie because you like that actor, not because you expect a great new interesting performance out of him. He’s good but he’s not very different role to role in my mind.

This idea that something stupid or something genre related can't be art is something I deeply disagree with. This movie will still have a story at its core. It will have themes and characters and potentially even social or political commentary. Whether or not those elements of the film are successful are subjective of course, but to me those elements and the attempt are worthy of critical consideration.
