Matt Damon got the rattiness feeling down & Jack was mr.cool. But Leo was def the standout for me like you could actively feel his constant state of anxiety like he was constantly on the edge in every scene( & that’s what a undercover cop should feel like). But he also nailed the kinda city boy hotheaded criminal gang dude on the outside but actually intelligent & heart of gold on the side complexity the character had. Like every scene he was in was great

Yup agreed. What a great performance. Incredible for a 13 year old.

This is a truly horrible post, and even worse take.
Screen time in Inception: -Tom Hardy - 12:45sec -Leo - 60:45sec
Granted, I’m the general sense, screen time means fk all in terms of performances (Anthony Hopkins won an Oscar for 16mins worth of screen time in Silence of the Lambs), but in the case of Inception. You’re never gonna convince Tom Hardy gave a better performance than Leo in a literal 1/4 of the amount of time on screen. Tom Hardy was an afterthought in that film, and Joseph Gordon Levitt. Just stfu rn lmfao. This dude gonna say Joseph Gordon Levitt > Leo DiCaprio and expect people to take their opinion’s seriously. Bro. Where do you get your drugs from?
Roast and stupidity aside.. ask yourself two questions
- How many Leonardo DiCaprio movies have you seen?
- When did you become aware of who Leonardo DiCaprio is, what role?
If someone with no prior knowledge of who he is, were to sit down and watch Leo films in chronological order. They would tell you how wrong your opinion is.
Look at the roles from these films:
- What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (93)
- Titanic (97)
- Gangs of New York (02)
- Revolutionary Road (08)
- The Great Gatsby (13)
5 films 5 years apart, most of them no where near his top work, tell me his performances and abilities aren’t “organic” for lack of better words.
“He’s a good actor with impressive filmography” … “he’s overrated” .. pick one

Leo is a great actor. Can’t deny it. He basically gets first pick of any script in Hollywood and all the great directors want to work with him.
He takes his roles very seriously and it shows.
Daniel Day Lewis melts into his roles. You see him on screen and I’m not saying to myself “hey it’s DDL, look at him go”. With Leo it’s kind crazy because I always see him, I see Leo but he does a such a convincing job that eventually I get into the story and the movie and don’t care that it’s him anymore. His persona is not a distraction while not being hidden.
He has done a great deal of variety, I can’t say he has a signature style like other actors… yeah, I just genuinely like his acting and his movie choices. I’d go to see anything with him in it.
Do others outshine him? I wouldn’t say that. And it’s good he doesn’t outshine all others around him. A great supporting cast is what makes a great movie. I’d say in Django Unchained he was certainly a scene stealer but it didn’t overpower the film.

Sorry. I'll do a search next time. This is one of the ones I've thought about for years and I just started posting on Reddit. There's maybe only so many ideas out there.

Chloe Grace Moretz had dozens of acting credits ahead of Kick-Ass though. Definitely not a debut performance, for her at least.

I already asked this just yesterday. Which is odd because it is just yesterday? It is like people dont browse this sub or maybe they do but just rehash the idea - https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/11a35q0/film_acting_debuts_of_actorsactresses_that_are/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
But yeah Felix Kammerer for All Quiet on the Western Front and Christian Bale for Empire of the Sun.
Also in that thread I found out Ed Norton’s debut is Primal Fear and that is very impressive

I agree. He played the role on Broadway first, so it wasn't his "debut" playing that part, but he was so good that it transformed movies.

You could add Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver, but she'd already done some movies before that.

That's a good answer, though he had a leading role in One False Move before that, which is one of my favorite movies.

You mean his partial screenwriting credit before he dropped out of the project?
