I have an eye condition that, among other things, messes with my depth perception. I can get around normally, but it becomes especially noticable during 3D movies. So for me they're just paying more money to wear stupid glasses over my normal ones in order to watch a 2D movie. They have absolutely no appeal for me.

I don't hate them but I generally go for 2d showings unless it's something I know was made for 3d the right way. Most of the lazy post conversions are done poorly and give me a headache.

I’m a pretentious literary person. It was not my cup of tea. I really like other Ishiguro works but this was so simple and silly.

If you’ve read any fantasy genre staples, it pales in comparison. And if you like high-brow literary, it just feels childish.

There are some nice ideas and characters but weird to see someone I respect so much put out something that read so half baked

From what I’ve seen, though, I tend to be in the minority. Many others have thought it engaging and emotional.

I would expect the price point for animation is way way lower than live action, and if they are not going to get any more $ out of it, what is the point? (daytime tv is likely cheaper than animation, but i dont think that is what your looking for)

Cash is king.

Some years ago I read the romour/speculation that Avatar 2 will be the first (mainstream) 3D movie that works without 3D glasses.

Didn’t happen obviously but I hope Cameron (and others) continue to push the technology to this point.

I thought Gravity was great in 3D because the takes are soooo long that my brain didn't have to spend time reorienting itself. Action movies with quick cuts force me to spend a split-second to understand where everything is each time the camera cuts to a new view. But Gravity allowed me enough time to figure out the scene and where all the objects were.

The reason why Sony have not launched a streaming service is pretty simple: they do not need to in order to maintain current revenue levels long term. Disney, NBCU, WBD, and Paramount make up a significant portion of their overall revenue from broadcast and cable services. That industry is in free fall thanks to Netflix and Amazon launching low cost, popular, streaming services. In order to chase that lost revenue the likes of Disney, NBCU, Paramount, and WBD have had to launch their own streamers. The problem is that is super expensive and needs heavy investment in the early years to rollout worldwide and to grow to scale. It will eventually be profitable for most of them.

Sony have not got the content to be truly competitive in an overly crowded streaming industry. They were always the weakest of the big studios. They also do not need to invest in streaming as they have very little revenue tied to the collapsing cable and broadcast industry. Sony do not need streaming because they did not have cable and broadcast businesses of note in most markets.

They did invest in niche anime streaming service Crunchyroll which looks an excellent pickup at the $1 billion they paid for it.

I wonder if people who praise this film know much about film at all. It fails on many level especially as a horror movie. Peele is highly highly overrated, I did like “us”, even that wasn’t a masterpiece. Even the over hanging theme in “nope”, which is such a shitty title to being with😆, is extremely boring and simple. Peele try so hard at making an intelligent horror that it almost become laughable. some good horror films with great themes and execution, try something like “eyes without a face(1960),possession (1981) or almost any Lynch film. To say someone doesn’t understands movies cause they don’t follow all positivity around “nope” is really a stupid statement in itself.
