You realize that investors bought 24% of family homes last year? That creates a housing shortage for people trying to buy a house and forces then into renting or paying an exceedingly high price for a home.

Landlords do assume some risk but a ton of risk is inaccurate. Property values generally go up and finding a tenant hasn't been difficult in a very long time.

Yeah, landlords are doing fine. It's barely a "job". Real-estate taxes and other costs aren't jumping nearly as fast as the rates rents are being raised. In fact corporate landlords had record profits.

Having money to buy up multiple properties sit on them. That's an easy job if you have the money.

They don't even have to figure out what makes sense for rent prices. They use software.

I don't mind the road, and the Mount Washington Weather Observatory is such a unique Mt top feature, that I'm glad the road is there if only to get the crew to the summit.

That said - I hate the line for pictures at the summit. I wish Hikers were allowed to bypass the line. Hikers are usually under a time constraint to get down in daylight, and waiting in line for an hour is a pain.

Go read the dcyf thread.

It took that long cause they don't have enough people to take the cases.

Social workers are waaaay overworked, underpaid, disrespected, and impossible to replace as nobody wants a job that destroys them mentally, physically, and emotionally for shit pay and zero respect.

You know there's a train too, right? It's just a mountain - soil and rocks, the most unique thing about it is some alpine plants that don't exist at lower elevations. We paved a road through the notch, that's a beautiful spot too. Gets a lot more traffic than Mount Washington.

The only thing that makes it special is humans perception of it. It's tall, you can see long distances from the top. So let the people enjoy it. No other species has these philosophies about the sanctity of a mountain. That's the catch - we love it so much we want to visit it but hate the fact that so many people are visiting it.

So do property taxes, water bills, cost of maintenance, cost of background checks, gas, etc. Landlords assume a TON of risk. The housing situation in this state is very difficult but it’s certainly not the fault of landlords.

If you volunteer for foster care you will have to go through umpteen tons of paperwork, have your personal life and privacy raped by a case manager/social worker, and any adult males in the house will be treated like unconvicted child molesters.

The system has become so bad that basically the only people willing to host fosters are those doing it as a quasi-business, and want the $$.
