Food is great at a good price. It could get crowded on weekends. We go early evenings and ask for the table in the back corner. Very cozy for two. It usually reserved for bigger parties.

Olive oil shouldn't necessarily last you a long time, it degrades pretty quickly and I've met way too many people who are dunking their bread in rancid oil because they think it's like wine.
I use it for roasting veg (yes I've read the arguments against that and I don't care), it gets mixed in with farro/roasted veg salads, bean salads, roasted veg salads, regular salads. I use it in certain breads that I bake. I use it to eat a loaf of bread with (fresh boule + olive oil mixed with red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and some grated parm = the best). I use it in hummus even though I know that's non-traditional. I use it in pestos and other spreads. I toss it with pasta/garlic/parm when I'm too lazy for real cooking.
Tonight I'm making cod gyros (yes, homemade pita) so I'll use olive oil for that.
I just love olive oil, and life is too short for the mediocre stuff.

So my friend of almost a decade lives in NJ and has done for as long as I’ve known her. I discovered a bus that will take me from about 2~ish blocks from my place, and drops off in front of her apartment building. Yes it takes about an hour, but it’s super cool to me that I can hit up other locations in jersey without having to detour to Manhattan.

ITT people who believe in trickle down housing will finally work.

Yes its a turkey vulture. There are also a ton of black vultures in NJ. As a sidenote vultures are one of the few birds that have a sense developed of smell. Other birds do not.

More developments -> more families -> more kids -> higher school costs -> higher taxes. Pick your poison.

Was supposed to be a stop n shop I think. Town residents voted against it to save the open space. the township decided it was ok to build there anyway, no stop n shop but a bunch of other crappy establishments.

It works both ways. The more developments -> the more families that more in -> higher BOE costs -> higher taxes.

That’s a reference to the movie Copland with Robert DeNiro, Ray Liotta and Harvey Keitel. About a bunch of corrupt NYC cops who all live across the river in NJ.
One of my favorites. Check it out.

Warren County hears your cries and adds its own.
I grew up in NYC and one of the big changes for me moving out here is the complete and utter lack of any sort of mass transit. Even where it exists (RVL), it’s useless; 1:30 from High Bridge to Newark is a joke.

Every few miles I see new houses and apartments being built. None of which I, or other working class people, can afford. It’s always poorly made, shoddy “luxury” townhomes that are wildly unaffordable to average people and just create more traffic and crowding. No more development, I say.

Check out the Brandywine Museum and surrounding area in PA. Years ago we had a book, Day Trips in New Jersey. It had nice trips in the tristate area and provided a fair amount of information on each destination. See if they have an updated version.

Yes! And also the intersection after you get off 295 onto 38 and need to make a left onto Marter Ave by the Dunkin Donuts. You have to cross like 7 lanes of traffic coming from 3 different directions. I have to go there for work a couple times a month and I hate it!

Oh shit, didn't know that about target eggs! I gotta check mine out this weekend. We usually get our cleaning supplies from Costco and they last forever for just the 2 of us so I never really did number crunching on those prices and don't take advantage of all the Target deals I see pop up like that. Gonna have to start paying more attention to those too lol

This was my initial thought too, but in reality there are plenty of closed malls with empty parking lots that could be developed first.

Okay so like what about, for example, Red Bank then? Everyone here is cool with Red Bank putting up a bunch of mid-rises in their downtown, right? Nobody’s opposing that? Bc the consistent position here would be loading up every Main Street and downtown with mid-rise mixed use. But all I see is blanket opposition to everything.

Even better - turn those back into woods too.
