Port Authority cops are legit, respectful and professional. All cops should be like Port Authority cops.

Wow, that’s stupid. “There’s been a lot of violence against brown people, so let’s just stop enforcing vehicle safety standards as an olive branch!” Talk about not getting anything done.

All depends on where and what kind of standard of living you are trying to attain.

It depends on where you plan to live, and what kind of home you're looking for. Generally anything within an hour of NYC is relatively expensive, and a $65k income might be tight there.

Maybe if you have enough saved up for a down payment on something. You may get decent rent depending on where in NJ you're going but anything in the Bergen/Morris/Passaic County areas is going to cost you

NJ. It's just better than the US as a whole because have you seen those crazies out there in the rest of the country? I'm not like them

Cape May is really great in its own right. But my family grew up going to Wildwood Crest every year. On the Garden State Parkway, exits and mile markers are the same. Cape May is exit 0, Wildwood is exit 4. If you have time, check out the beach at WWC. I can’t wait to go back this summer.

NJ ethos for sure. I bailed out in 2017 and went to Florida . Returned to NJ last year.
Florida is not my America.

I’m with you on the seasonal affective disorder- I struggle with the gray days. I moved to Florida to avoid it and came back last year.
I have discovered that avoiding looking at the gray skies helps me. I set up a project space in my basement and stay busy. I’m on the prowl for some gently used workout equipment (elliptical, and I have a rowing machine) for the days it’s too raw and damp to walk outside.
You aren’t alone. Just know that Florida weather is great. And that’s about all it has going for it.

New Jersey for sure. Especially as the child of an immigrant, it's hard for me to identify with the US as a whole, whereas this state is my true home. I was born and raised here, and this is the place I love.

Definitely more with NJ than America. Unless I’m like rooting for team USA in the Olympics I don’t really feel much kinship or pride or connection with the rest of America. My jersey identity is strong

Just went through the ordering process and it would be over $40 for 2 quart size jars of pickles, that's ridiculous

My grandfather was like that. He died alone in his house. No one missed him until he didn't go back to work after a 2-week vacation. Left an unsightly stain on the floor.
Anyway, fuck nazis.

Reply to Are there any good/affordable engagement photographers that don’t charge a fortune in our area? by flyingp1zza
There’s nothing wrong with maintaining a budget or not wanting to spend the money on something you think is overpriced. But if you know that’s not the going rate, don’t expect to find it.
For the record: your budget of $200 is barely even a friend/family rate. “I’m operating on a budget” is a great way to have photographers avoid working with you.
Wedding photography is expensive, yes. That has been true for a long time. It’s fulfilling, but exhausting work. But most reasonable wedding photographers will credit an engagement session towards the wedding booking.
My advice: don’t spend money on photographing the proposal. Ask a friend / family member to do it. Keep it low key. Then talk with your future fiancé/SO and hire a wedding photographer (together) for a proper engagement session that both of you can prepare for together. I’m sure your partner will appreciate being involved instead of having a surprise photoshoot sprung on them.
Good luck!
