26 in 2016. An old college buddy of mine found a surprisingly cheap apartments complex in Haddonfield and we moved in as roommates. At the time I was still working at Whole Foods, $13/hr or so at 40 hours per week. Fast forward to now and I’m very much enjoying Haddonfield’s cap on rent hikes.

I live in PA now and prefer pumping my own gas but we also have giant Sheetz/Wawa's on every corner with like a minimum of 12 pumps at each. A lot of the NJ gas stations I remember growing up were smaller 4 pump stations. With the amount of people compared to the size of the stations, I feel like they'd get jammed up pretty fast. Especially with assholes who are done filling up but sit there hogging the pump while they text or go inside to take a dump or something. At least with attendants they can ask people to move and help maintain flow of traffic. I think NJ stations would need to be bigger for it to be practical there.

The only real issue, at least up north, is I'm not convinced we have the space for the huge gas stations that you see in the midwest.

I don't even mean the Texas Bucky's. Just a regular one, well lit, clean, fully covered, with 6-20 pumps. Most gas stations up here are basically falling apart, with too few pumps, no covering, and not enough land to build something spacious and comfortable.

Moved out right after graduating college in 2019 to join the AmeriCorps in California, lived there for two years, moved back and lived at home for a year while I worked, then moved out again to live with my best friend in an 2br apartment in North Jersey. It’s been very expensive and I am not able to save very much but imo it’s worth it for the peace of mind and independence.
