Reply to Ridgewood Skatepark - Open? by xxlibrarisingxx
I know ridgewood has some skateboard rec program starting mid April so if it’s not open yet, I’d assume it’s opening soon.
Dahnert lake in Garfield has a roller hockey rink that’s pretty unused
Petruska park in paramus has a roller hockey rink- I’ve seen pickup games on weekend mornings, but other times it’s unused
Old tappan technically has a skate park, but it’s in poor condition
Voorhees in Westwood has a giant blacktop basketball court that might work for just flat area use
And if you feel like paying for a session check out the shred co. They have a facility near willowbrook mall. Lessons and open sessions
Edit to add- Montclair just opened up a new feature at one of their parks. It’s sculptures that were designed to be used as a skatepark

Update: Spoke to a claim specialist. After an hour in hold then a call back.. As long as it’s part time and your full time employer your working for we got the green light.

Interesting in light of jockeying for grants to extend the light rail.

Unlikely. They barely use the lines they have now

Yes, in the Home Goods/Shop Rite lot.

YOLO. Let them try and see what happens. If worse comes to worse they can move back to the mid west. Personally I think that would be real difficult after they experience genuine pizza, bagels and Taylor Ham but that's my opinion.

This would be fantastic if it ends up true. The NJT app itself would make life easier.

You know I've been living in Bloomfield for a few years now and I've never noticed a Grove St. Shuttle at all. Interesting I'll have to look into it or use the Allwood Park and ride.

Wait, there is free parking at lyndhurst?! I'm in north bloomfield so usually when I miss the last Decamp bus I come in at Styertowne for the bus.

Yes, it may be common in Japan and the UK. And these countries aren't really known for high quality bus service. Buses in London are good but these are run on a contract system, not similar to the situation that Decamp, Coach USA, etc have. And when you go out to other parts of Britain the quality drops off a lot.
I don't know anything about the other countries you mentioned. It's still a minority of countries. With high labor costs for bus drivers it is extremely difficult if not impossible to make bus service run profitably.

Its an ordinance. It hasn't changed unless the town changes it. If you really wanna know call the Parks Dept.

Exactly. Ten miles in the Midwest is quite different than 10 miles in the NYC area.

Even from ShopRite it's an almost 30 minute walk to the PATH station and that's probably one of the southernmost places in Kearny

If she doesn't get this out of her system, she will resent you forever. Better to stay quiet & let her go. Let her figure out the finances. Keep quiet & stay out of it, imho. If things don't work out, then it's ALL on her. The more you comment, the more she will shut you out. There are tons of people like her coming to the NYC area & there is tons of competition. They are dreaming big time. She and her pals better have back up jobs to support themselves. But that's not your problem, is it? And don't give her any money or let her "borrow" any money from you. This is HER CHOICE. You need to take care of YOU.- finacially & emotionally........You may fInd she gets frustrated and returns home. Then again, one year may turn into 2 or 3 years chasing that dream or just enjoying the NYC atmosphere. Clearly, she is not ready to settle down & this is a priority for her, not your relationship....The question becomes how are YOU going to handle this? She has already made up her mind.... she is going no matter how you feel about it.

Buses are privately run and publicly subsidized in Japan, UK, Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, etc. - unless you want to argue that those are not first world countries.
